View Full Version : Changing rim diameter???

Seeing that our Marauders come with taller tires on the back than on the front to create the "raked" look, has anyone thought about changing the rim diameter of either the front or rear to help add to the look?
But keeping the overall stock tire (rubber) heights.
Examples:
16" in the front with 17" in the rear
17" in the front with 18" in the rear
18" in the front with 19" in the rear
You get the idea.

I know magindat has 18's(I think) up front and 20's in back. Looks pretty sharp too and so does the car.

No, I never thought of that!:bs:
All the info is in the sig. The rear is 1/4" taller (negligible) and the front is 1/4" shorter (again negligible). Me likey. I went this way cuz I wanted to:
1) Keep the rake.
2) Have 'dubs'
3) Have the same aspect ration front and rear
4) Be different
6) It was cheaper than replacing 1 rim and tire + replace the 3 other tires to match wear from the wreck.
7) see more of the drill/slot rotors
Overall 1/2 of increased rake. I started to lower the rear to make the 20's 'tuck' and set the rake back to a more stock position, but I like the slight increase.
The fronts are sticky high performance tires and the rear are SUV tires. It has been a successful street combo given the sidewall strength and grip of an SUV tire.
Be glad to help with sizing and offset if you go this route. It was quite a challenge to set it up right!
Good Luck
