Took the Marauder to the dealer for all its due work. My wife was following me in my mom's 740i (moms outa town so I'll be driving the beemer around to show homes with)

We had a ton of open sunday freeway to goof off.

The first run from about 60mph we stayed damn near side by side up to 110. However at about 90 she started just barly inching away. When we let off the MM's bumper was at the driverside door.

The 2nd one I wanted to go from a little lower, 40mph. She was using the sport shift and already had it in 2nd gear. I had it in 3rd(od off) and would mash the gas when I said go via cell phone. This race I got beat pretty good. She pulled a good 1/2 car away when we stopped at 110.

3rd race I had to make sure the MM represented. I locked it in 2nd and we went from 50. We stayed side by side but when I went out of 2nd at a nats ass hair before the RPM limiter the beemer started to creap away again.

My conclusion is this. The 5-speed auto in the beemer with closer ratios really makes a big difference. When I'd shift outa 2nd at 88-90mph she was in the BMW's sweet spot in 3rd. In fact at 100mph the beemer would get into 4th. It has almost the same shift points/speeds as my 5-speed stang with 3.55's

Also going from one car to the other for the drive home the beemer would destroy my MM outa the hole. Hopefully the 3.73's will take a slight edge off the slow ass take off.

BMW: 282hp, 325tq
MM: 302hp, 320tq

But her's was stock!!

When I get my 3.73's its rematch time!

Dont mean to jump off topic but I was curious about your tires you are running I see the sizes in your sig and was wondering are those on stock wheels or do you have the rears widened???? Do you have any problem running that wide on the fronts???

Im sure you have some good reasons to go with 3.73's but If i was racing my old 740 il I would want 4.30's in the rear.

The front tires don't rub at all neither do the back. They are on stock wheels. The back ones are definatly a little to wide and tall. But they were already on the car when I got it and they were brand new.

3.73's for me will be perfect for what I use the car for. If this was my speed car it would be a different story. Otherwise it would already have nitrous on it. :)

Oh and the other sad thing is that her trunk has about 100-150lbs of paperwork/junk in the trunk. Mine was totally empty.
