Love the beauty shots.

Don't leave your Marauder under that Bradford Pear tree though ... My neighbor had three of those trees have huge chunks break off. One tree snapped off three times (twice crushing my fence) and another tree broke off practically at the ground in moderate to strong winds. (We didn't lose any roof shingles, so the wind wasn't too extreme.)

Nice pics Charlie. Gotta love them darker colors.

What wax are ya using? Do you apply with a wiz-bang polisher gizmo or by hand? :P :D

It was a Bradford Pear.

I hear ya. Bradford pears are notorious for their poor branching. I lost one on the other side of the driveway during Hurricane Isabel in September 2003 about 3 weeks before I bought the Marauder. The tree split in half and fell across the driveway between my '94 T-Bird LX and the Conversion van. No damage to either car. I couldn't have laid it more perfectly if Paul Punyan had come in to do the job. I suspect that the current tree will be coming out soon since it has reached the age where it is having difficultly holding its own weight.

I hate to say this; but I really do very little to the car. George had it detailed for me last September as a birthday present. I try to keep it clean and hit it frequently with Meguiar's Qwik Wax. I like the results by hand better even though I have a buffer that has only been used once on George's car.

There was a good turnout yesterday. However, there were also a couple of no shows. Maybe they had some difficulty finding the BrewPub off Guilford Drive. :dunno: Separate thread has some pics.

Will pruing the tree help? They look so pretty.

The Bradford Pears tend to grow perfectly proportional and are perfectly shaped when they are young. Pruning as they age helps some; but is limited because they tend to grow like a bush rather than a tree. Once they reach an age of around 10-12 years, they become quite vulnerable to splitting because of winds during storms. The whilte blossoms only last about 2 weeks in the early spring then the leaves are pretty densely packed. This gives the wind a really good sail to put stresses on the tree especially at the weak points. They are a very decorative tree as youngsters; but a potential hazard as they get older. Ask Mike Poore ... he had one fall near his car not too long ago. Fortunately, no real damage except for a "rub" as I recall.

Nice photos. I am jealous, as my blue is currently coated with oak tree droppings.
