Part of me says that I didn't need to wait 6 days before going WOT from a dead stop, but there are a lot of new parts under the hood, and I figured it could not hurt to slowly ease into the boost and give the new parts some time to adjust to the idea that they're going to feel violated on a fairly frequent basis :)
It all started last night when I was driving back from dinner. I just had to, I couldn't resist. I was less than a mile from home and I figured if anything was going to go wrong let it happen now. About 10:00 PM last night Ellie (My Girlfriend of 2 Years) and I were on the way home from a nice dinner. It was a small haul, maybe 25 minutes, if that. Getting close to home she knew something was up - I turned T/C off, O/D off, turned the air off, turned the radio down, and slowly let off the brake idling around the turn I needed to make at that sign. In the midst of taking a breath I stomped my foot to the floor and was overwhelmed with the new power. I was 3/4 of the way out of the turn, but my car was headed sideways. I have no clue how fast I was going, my rear tires much faster, but I was going sideways. I still had control and straightened it out sometime around 2nd gear and took off. Breathing back in I could smell the rubber inside the car and I throttled back before the third shift. WHAT A RUSH! I glanced over at Ellie, she had one hand over her eye, the other holding onto the door, and she was furious. It didn't take but a few seconds to audibly discover she does not like to go sideways. Oh well.
Today during the road-test of the new Metco Upper and Lower Control arms I was suprised at what appeared at the light. A Dodge Ram and I are next to each other slowing down for a red light. I think nothing of it, it's a Ram, it isn't a Turbo Diesel, so what. Then the Ram turns right and in my mirror I see a black CTS...then I see a mesh grille...then I notice the lower mesh grille also, and wouldn't you know it - the damn thing had huge brakes and a V badge on the side. Naww....
The light turns green and I slowly ease into the gas, then nosed ahead of him. As soon as our noses got even he went for it so we both punched it and watched the results. I'd like to tell you I whooped him, but I didn't, and he didn't whoop me either. We stayed dead even, and this guy can shift. Quickly glancing to my right I can see his frustration, he had that "Bitter Mouth" look and his eyebrows seemed to move around a lot. We were halfway to the light and we shut it down and he turned off. So I didn't win, me and my "Mid-Grade Gas" Trilogy Tune (Now supplied with the kit ;) ) did a pretty decent job in my book.
And then there was the Viper. No kidding huh? CTS-V in the morning, Viper on the way to dinner tonight. I didn't try a thing on this one, that fish is going to take a little more than what I got to even stick around. He had tires that looked like slicks, I could have sworn they were too. Black, a large spoiler, different wheels, and some sticker on the side by the badging. The car looked, well, modified. Sounded very much so too. He took off at every light, I didn't stand a chance, so I just watched.
So back to the blower - this rocks. This is how the car should have come from the factory, or atleast had the option to be suited this way. I can drive you around town and you won't have a clue I have a blower under the hood waiting to be woken up, and once you get into the boost...****ehdabout it.
