A quarter. Pre states version. It was all I had in my pockets to show scale. If I flipped the coin, it's from the state many of us will be in this weekend.

C'mon y'all!

Y'all are so "cold" here...THINK!

Hint #1...Yes, it is a genuine tool.

Looks to be a tool designed to be driven by a square drive rachet or breaker-bar. Fits on to a cylindrical devise for intallation/removal. I would guess a VERY hard to reach oil filter?

Or maybe a Dinga-ding-dang, my-danga-long-ling-long. Which is, of corse, something very confusing in and of itself!

Do you follow?

I think that you may be right. If there wasn't a foot of snow on the gound, I would out to my neighbor's firetruck and look.

for the the best guess. Do these pics tell y'all anything?

It'a a wrench used to release tension from the tensioner pulley to remove or replace the serpentine belt.

Depending on your individual mods, this wrench will ease the tension while you position the belt. Though the tensioner has a spot of it's own for a breaker bar, that's not always easy to get to. If a centrifugal blower is present, it's not available at all. This wrench approaches the tensioner from below, and you can access it from top or bottom to release belt tension for repairs.

If you do your own wrenching on a Marauder, or, any FMC product using this common sized tensioner, it's quite handy.

Bravo to Javier for the best guess, and thanks to Dennis for the wrench.

If you need one, give him a call? 60 bucks saves a lot of sweat.

The third picture sure looks like a belt tensioner.. So, my guess would be a serpentine belt tensioner tool... I know the doofus is built in to them for the 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, but mebbe the new ones require a "dealer" visit for installation, making $100 for the Dealer... RAM

Have there been problems with our tensioners after changing the belt without using this tool???

added note: any pics of one in action with the centrifical blower?

Have there been problems with our tensioners after changing the belt without using this tool? "Problem"? Not that I'm aware of. But, this tool makes life easier for the mechanic by providing options for leverage.

any pics of one in action with the centrifical blower? Tensioner, or, tool? I guess I could dig something up, but I'm not sure what you want to see. With a centrifugal blower in place, the tensioner is not very visible at all.

If there is a pic of the tool being used to change the belt on a Vorteched or
Procharged MM, I would like to see it.

Just out of curiousity, what does a tool like that go for?

Well in due time, we may be able to work that out, but I don't have one handy just now. However, from another gallery, here's a pic of the tensioner in place on the front cover.

If a centrifugal blower was added, you wouldn't see this at all, without raising the car on a rack and taking the pic from below.

As I posted earlier, the tool is 60 dollars, from Dennis Reinhart.

Thanks for sharing Mac, I think I might need to get one of those. I witnessed a guy giving himself a black eye when a breaker bar slipped off the tensioner *ouch*. Better to have a skinned knuckle any day.
