Hello folks,
Just registered to the site and have enjoyed it so far. I test drove a new Maraduer yesterday and I may be hooked. I am wondering what is a good price on the car? I realize this varies in different regions, but just wanting to get a sample of what to expect. Local dealer seems to have a pretty good price. Car has changer and trunk organizer.....options, sticker is 35,3xx or so and his price is 29,7xx . I'm sure he is taking out all rebates etc. He says that he ordered 8 cars and can give a good price because of volume sales. I found a new car with 64 miles in the Atlanta Ga. area on E-bay(with a reserve price) and called the dealership and they said the price was 28---or 28,500. Give some thoughts here. I want to make an educated purchase.
Also drove an Infinit G35 yesterday, very nice car but a bit small, and I guess I am just a V8 , fullsize kinda guy!!!!!!!!
Thanks

If it is a 300B and not black maybe 28k. But for a 300A that's been on the lot(black of course), they shouldn't be more than 27k. Just from what I have seen them go for around here.

I agree with "01." My guess is that you should be able to make a deal with someone for something like $27,700-$28,200 (for a 300B-w/out CD changer, w/out heated seats, w/out trunk organizer--price is BEFORE destination, tax and license, and AFTER all rebates, cash backs, dealer discounts, etc.). I approached dealers with a "go" price already in my head--if they balked, I left immediately and went on to the next one. I also had the benefit of an "X" plan price, which is about $100 under invoice on this car (which is supposedly $700 less than the AAA-contracted price), but it seems others are buying in low $28K as well (note: the trunk organizer is only about $240 from Ford resellers).

I also looked at the G35--I just thought the front was too funny-looking. Too docile-looking. Too Dockers and Polo shirt-looking. Plus it still looks like everything else (although the G35's dash really is an incredibly beautiful piece of design).

One caveat . . . once you buy a Marauder, you'll become irrevocably addicted to this site.

Current rebate is 3500.00 or 0.0% finance.... My initial offer three weeks ago was 26495 for a 300A model with org and cd changer...I ended up paying 29,xxx with 1.9% (that was drive out price in Texas)

Paid less than invoice back in November. After $2000 rebate: right at 30K.

With current rebates at 3500 to 4000, I'd say 28000 - 28500 would be OK.

But weren't there some sold recently for below 27000?

Thanks for the info so far. I guess the next question is what is the difference between the 300A and 300B ? Keep the price info flowing.
NBC...... this site is very cool and makes buying the car more attractive.

Fla Raud there is a thread somewhere that talks abou the difference. One of the difference is the full size spare(front wheel size) versus the standard donut on the B model...others will be able to answer this question better.

NBC...... this site is very cool and makes buying the car more attractive. The main difference between a 300A and a 300B is traction control. The also deleted some equipment on the 300B such as a remote fuel door, map pockets on front seats, put the clock in radio, has a mini spare. The only problem I see with a 300A is that they have been in some stock for almost a year. I myself opted for Traction Control. The prices quoted are above are about right. Since you test drove the MM you are probably hooked like the ret of us. Enjoy John :)

I was between the Marauder, the Mazda RX-8, and the Infiniti G35 coupe or sedan. I'm very happy with my MM decision, heck for $25k after A-Plan and rebates can't beat it. Put a few grand into her for gears, chip, plugs, audio, tint, shaft, headers, brakes, etc.. and you've got one heck of a nice ride, that the insurance adjusters don't hate, and the gas mileage is not too bad (20mpg for me) and a huge back seat that if drive ins were still around or lookout points, could get alot of use out of!

FLA RAUD FAN: Wecome THe car does sell itself:D I like buying the old fashion way..Going from dealer to dealer the more in the mix the better the chance for the price/perks you want/need. I do not know how much time yoou have to shop? Also do not know how many dealers in you area stock Marauders?? The internet is always good to compair. Dealers will match price as long as you can print it out...
Go get yourself one and enjoy the site and the car:cool: :D

P.S.

Get all your rebate ads, web print outs, and VHS recordings of commercials and bring them to the dealer. When I purchased mine, Mercury had a $3,000 cash back, a $500 customer cash bonus, and a $500 "Think Big" promotion which applied SPECIFICALLY to the Marauder (Mercury's Think Big promotion was on the Mercury website and included both a picture and ad copy describing the Marauder specifically). The total rebate, according to radio and TV ads that ran that month (March 2003) in the Los Angeles market was "$4,000 on ANY Mercury."

Upon my initial dealer queries, NO salesperson volunteered any of the rebate information.

When I went to the final dealer to make the purchase, first they showed me a sales order without the $500 customer bonus cash but included the Think Big $500 promotion credit. I made my objections, then they came back with a sales order showing the exact opposite--NO $500 Think Big promotion credit, but included the $500 customer bonus cash (both offers included the $3000). When I pressed them further, they claimed that the codes wouldn't come up in the computer. They then said that the $500 Think Big promotion credit didn't apply to "X" Plan purchases (my X Plan application specifically says all factory incentives still apply). Since I was offered $500 more than Blue Book on my trade-in, I didn't haggle the $500 and just let it go and made the deal.

Again, no salesperson volunteered any of this information. No one knew about the "Think Big" promotion. No one saw or heard the $4,000 radio and TV promotion.

Like I said, I already had a "go" number in my head, and the final price was actually a few hundred dollars lower than that--so it was a done deal. Good luck, FlaRaudFan, and welcome to a great site--make your deal, and like BigDog says, JUST DO IT!

P.S.P.S.

Thanks for the compliments on the pics! And thanks again to Logan, LML, and all the helpful members that make this such a great site!

Good advice NBC, but would that still apply to a car that is for sale at 27k? I mean I know it would apply at MSRP...but out of anyone who reads this site, who's dumb enough to actually buy one at MSRP nowadays?

So...if an MM is 27k up here in WA. Take all the rebates you can think of ~3500-4000 = possibly a new MM with less than 100 miles for 23-23.5k? (and don't forget 0%) Now that's a price! Too bad it seems like wishful thinking.

Last week I got my MM. I got it for 27,9xx. This included the window ventvisors, trunk organizer, cd changer, taxes, title and license. I ended up paying 17,xxx at 4.9 after my trade-in. This was in San Antonio, Tx

man i wish i found this site before buyin my car instead of the day of delivery. I paid FULL STICKER and then some in febuary with snow and ice on the ground, to a dealer that knew nothing. im sure i could have gotten the price down seeing as how i was their first MM buyer. oh well, live and learn, atleast I got a free auto start that gave me problems for a while (j/k i love the car and it was worth it) :)

I spoke to the salesman again today on the phone and he said he could sell the car for invoice + destination charges + cost of options. Which breaks down like this :
Invoice $30,858
Options $530
Destination $725
Total of $32,113 - $3500 Rerbate
= $28,613
plus taxes title work and misc......
I plan to go in and offer him 27k for the car and see what happens, he has SIX black 300A vehicles on the lot, paying interest on them, 4 still in the plastic. He ordered 8 and has only sold 2 . I am thinking I can hammer him down to a pretty good number, and work on the spoiler as well. If he bites I may drive one home tomorrow. I will post an update tomorrow PM. Local credit union has as low as %4.75 for 60 months.

Amedd, I like your numbers alot, way to go!!!

Thanks for the input everyone. MM Net folks seem to be a pretty good bunch so far!!!!

FLA RAUD FAN:

Obviously you are hooked. The MM chooses it's owners, not the other way around. When it saw you on the lot, it knew YOU were the next 'select' proud owner.

Therefore, all that's left to do is sign the papers.
I also like your price you have been offered. 27k even is a little low maybe, but go for it. I settled for a 300A the 68 year old service mgr. had been driving...it had a few miles on it, mint otherwise, and got it for 26,600 back in late January. The money I saved I used for DR's stage I mod package.

Welcome!

On 300As I am seeing $28k to $29.5k before tax, title, license, net of all rebates and cash.

in February I first negoitiated $29.5k and then gave back $3k of the rebate for lower apr 2.8%-5 year financing for lowest total monthly note.

Well guys I did the dirty deed today. I scored the 2003 Mercury MARAUDER
300B model in Black and Charcoal!!!! The car seems to have been made to be BLACK to me!!! I had a tough decision on the A or the B as he had both on the lot. Does anyone know if the B is missing the rear speaker grills that were on the A model. Mine just has carpet over the rear speakers and I like the grills better. Anyway, I got the B for invoice minus the rebate and I also scored the Spoiler, and window tint and swaped the full size spare from one of the A models. (Salesman's idea ) all included in the deal. My final price out the door with taxes title work and tag transfer was $29,6xx financed at %4.25 percent. I am a happy camper right now and feel like I got a nice deal. The car was manufactured in 02/03 . I guess I will be a regular here for more info for a while.
At that price the "MARAUDER RULES!!!!"
Thanks for the help and look forward to talking with all of you some more.

FLA RAUD FAN - Congrats on the purchase of your MM. As for the speaker grills all decontented 300B MM,s do not have the rear speaker grills. I think you made a good move buying a MM that hasn't been in the dealers inventory for up to one year. Good Luck. John:up:

Well, now it's time for me to start wheeling and dealing... I've got the wife convinced we should trade the LS in on a silver MM. I'm hoping for 4-5 k difference on a trade. Local guys are way off, just like when I got mine. Wanted list for the MM, trade in at 2 k under NADA trade-in value for about 13 k difference. No wonder he's still got his first one sitting on the lot after 6 months!

I spent one week on the phone calling all the dealers I could find in Texas. When I got a good feel for going prices ~27250 after rebates, I got tired and started calling and telling them I wanted a $26000 Marauder. I found two within an hour, both had < 100 miles. I bought the one with the CD changer.

My suggestion is to never visit the lot after you know what car you want to buy. Phone calls are very quick and they can't pressure you nearly as easily.

And, do not trade (notice my WRX is for sale).

I just bought mine yesterday and the rebates are $3,500 rebate OR 0% financing IF you qualify. Not both.

Fla Raud Congrats! I was lucky enough to get just below invoice about $32ish out the door TTT but the clincher was I got the 0% financing throught Ford. I don't know how I pulled that off but it is great!!! I worked the numbers taking all the rebates and then financing and it was cheaper with the zero...and I got the Blue I wanted....Marauders are awesome....

Now I did have to go "around" with the Sales Manager and walk out on him...but I got what I wanted...

Enjoy the ride! :D
