I think when I hit 100,000 miles I will rebuild my tranny so it can handle whatever power adder I choose. Now I wanted to know what should be changed over from stock. Things like the torque converter and clutch. Does an aftermarket clutch exist (I'm sure it does) and what else should be changed over from stock? Thanks.

I wasn't sure if there were Clutch Packs inside or not. Definately no Clutch as in a Manual.

If its not broke don't fix it. Unless you plan on adding max hp.

However; this is a list of things done to a 700R4 that I using.

1 new assembly kit, Transtar, 1 new filter latest design, 1 new Kevlar Band, 1 new 2 pak High Performance set, 1 new SPRAC Forward Clutch, 1-new torque conv (Corvette) 1 new Sun Gear shell-reaction sun, 1 new sure cure shift correction upgrade, 1 new bushing front pump cover, 1 new bushing front pump body, 2 new sealing ring-pump, 1 new washer kit-w/popular, 1 new roller assembly low & Reverse.

AAMOCO did the rebuild, $1900. with the core that I did'nt have.

Get a Stage II Art Carr upgrade kit from Reinhart. I've got 20K miles on my prototype kit, no problems. Don't forget the deep pan and temp gauge.

What does that do exactly and how much will that set me back?

GOT THAT ! Sans the temp guage...is that a "self-help" type of project ??
