I was actually wondering if the Shifter in the new F-150's could be adapted to fit in our cars. The O/D button will be on the panel instead of the shifter

I pretty much like the shifter in the Marauder. I had a '78 Thunderbird with and auto on the floor. The shift handle was a brilliant chrome "T" that was, what they say, 'Bling' ?
You may want to see what the Jaguars have. It's all Ford so some may fit. They usually have the nicest looking/feeling shifter handles.
You are talking about the handles and not the entire shift linkage, right??

I like our shifter...the handle fits my hand well, and the interlock and O/D button are in just the right place for my thumb. It's a LOT better than those "lollipop" shifters with the interlock in the front, like in Pontiacs... (bleah)

I like the MM shifter as well even though I dolled it up a bit with the chrome accents from the LX Sport (thumb button & shaft).

I like the auot stick in the new Mustang GTs... it looks really cool. I thought about adapting one if possible. Let me try and find a pic.

Already tried it, not even close.

I also amfondof the Stocker. It seems to fill my hand well, and I like the placement of the O/D Button.
I have thought it would be cool to rewire it to be a Nitrous Switch, or something else fun (read this as HornBlasters!)

I too like the stocker. However, I put a Hurst ratchet shifter in my 1972 Firebird, (my brother's now), which I have to say is probably my favorite. Now if someone could put a ratchet shifter in a Marauder?.....hmmmm, that'd be the best of both worlds for me! :burn:

Being an owner of a 06 Mustang GT Automagic... The shifter sucks...I'd actually been thinking if I could stick a Marauder shifter in it!!! :)

You guys don't want the F150/Explorer style shifter. We replaced, or sold 3 so far. They don't hold up at all. I think the original Marauder shifter was cool.
I agree we need a better shifter. Ours have too much plastic.

I think the stock one is big and masculine , just like the rest of the car. its black and stiched like the steering wheel and seats, and the OD button is perfect for pressing all the time. To each his own though, good luck in your search.

My Marauder is female, it is big and black like Queen Latifa.

I like the look, but it should travel in more of an "H" pattern. Oh, wait, that would be a manual, and we CANT have that from Ford....
OK. I'll go away again.
Call me when someone gets serious about a tranny swap.

I did the same thing, thought the shifter was a little boring. But when I installed the chorme accents from the LX Sport, I see a big difference.

I would like to have a stop at second gear so you would not over shift to third on a manual shift. I beleive a shift from first to second just before 6000 rpm will get you to the next light faster and more impressive than waiting for that 6000 rpm shift point.

I used to think so too but letting the auto do its own work produces the fastest et's.

When you autocross or track-day the car, you are bang on. A second gear bump stop would be the perfect thing. Its the hardest part of slaloming these beasts - hitting second without sliding into third.
Another cool feature would be if someone could program the throttle to blip and match RPM when we are downshifting. These trannys lock up HARD when you downshift. Locks the rear end and makes the car pretty rough in the corners. Slaloming these is a challenge to say the least. (Still beat the Mustang GT, though, until he got the Hoosiers).

They make a $10. part you can put in the Mustang linkage so it stops at second and then you have to push the button again. Would not work on ours.

I agree on the 1/4 mile runs. But when your only getting up to 50 or 60 you want to keep it down in your high torque range. Torque starts declining about 5000-5100 rpm. Get out at about 5400 or 5500 and you should be at 50 mph as much as 1/4 of a second faster.

regarding the $10 part. You state "Wold not work on ours". Is this a question or a statement? Has it been verified that it would not work? Have we seen one to know what we would need to build?

It was a statement. Here is a link to the part. http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id=products&sid=4&cat=2&subcat=4&pid=305
As I remember our pattern was backward. If I could have reworked it I would have. If I had a shifter out of a car I could maybe make one.

Very interesting. Wonder if B&M is the kind of company that can do limited runs? Probably not, eh?
Thanks for the info, though. Would have been the cat's meow.

Call me when someone gets serious about a tranny swap. We have been serious about it, upwards to 10 large offered to get it done by someone who knows.
It hasn't happened, methinks it never will happen.

Its a shame. I'd probably loan my car for the winter if we had someone who could make it work. In the meantime, the idea of the shifter limiter would be a good start.

Last year it reportedly ran best ET 11.40's, Serious enough?

I've seen just the shifter themselves(used) go for close to $1,000.00 without the rest of the hardware.
I wouldn't mind having that setup in my 84 .....
But that's a bit steep for my blood(ok bank).
Come to think of it, I wish I had about 10 warehouses full of NOS General Motors G-Body parts .....
I'd be $et for life.
