The gasket that goes between the headers and the exhaust pipe (collector flange?) is blown on the left side, is this a "Kooks only" gasket or can I get a universal size one? Any help would be appreciated.

Get the copper replacement from Summit.
Will cost around 15 bucks

Yes I agree. DO NOT use any of the gaskets that Kooks sends you. Use Ford exhaust manifold gaskets, copper collector gaskets, and some sort of locking header bolts. If you dont, youll be maintaining your exhaust system like you would a Palm Beach Girl......

I dont agree with needing the locking header bolts.
My factory hardware has never budged.

+1 on that.

The collector size is 2 1/2" on most oof the complete kits.
My local speed shop has the copper gaskets.
Auto Zone and even PepBoys may have them too.

Did you just use all your old stock gaskets, bolts etc? Thanks :)

Thanks for the thread. I blew out the collector gasket on the passenger side today.

What a week for exhaust problems. I blew out my THIRD high-flow cat this week. I guarantee that won't happen again!

But yes, get the copper collector gaskets.

cheers!

I used the "Stage 8" brand locking header bolts along with the composite gaskets that Kooks sent me with the headers, as well as the collector gaskets too, and after 30,000+ miles, and 2.5 years later, I haven't had any exhaust leaks. ;) Who says you have to use steel shim header gaskets?
