I know Logan was talking a few weeks ago about sig pics "taking bandwidth" and slowing up the site. Is it possible to do what SVTP did? In any given thread your sig shows up in your first post. Then in any subsequent post the sig doesn't show up. Just a thought.

I think it is a GREAT idea. We have some users whose sigs are longer than anything that I have ever seen. I hate to give specific examples.

On the other hand, maybe if we started to politely name some names and ask people to shorten their sigs we could moderate ourselves as a community.

Best,

Dan

If this was to happen, I may turn signatures back on. I view from my PDA once and a while but the signatures kill me there so I turned them off in my user options panel.

Hmmm, now I wonder how hard it would be to add the ability to keep multiple user options settings. A simple click to choose which way I want to read posts. ( I would have one setting without signatures and avatars for PDA use and the other would show everything)

I'd definately subscribe to the show signature once in each post. My finger gets tired on the scroll wheel....

Just a thought.I've had that same thought but after looking behind the scenes, with our current software, there isn't such an option, at least that I could find.

As you create each post, you can manually deselect "Show your signature." If you're posting alot in a thread, consider turning it off yourself after your first post.

I believe it just takes a tiny bit of coding. The proper template file(s) need to be modified. See post 4 of this thread at vbulletin.com (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90108)

I understood that it was sig pictures that were causing the issues.
There is a 1000 character limit on the sigs....

Those who dial up need to wake up and smell the broadband. :P

Dial up? What's that? It was just too much for me to see barrel after barrel of whiskey when I only have a bottle or two (or three)

Perhaps, just having a SIZE limit on Sig Pics, and the # of Pics allowed??? I do not know if this already occurs or not...
Just MY thought.....

OK - I went deep underground and updated the code again. It gets written over every time the software is upgraded. Signatures will now only be seen once per poster in a thread.
