My MM has very little detent feel into Reverse or Drive, especially when going into Drive from 2. Anyone have this and what did you do?? What is first step in taking console apart?? I see no apparent hardware, and I have not crawled around to much yet.
This Blue MM was made in Jan '03. in Canada.
Thanx for quality replies.

That's a known issue and can be fixed. Some Dealers say, that's just the way it is. Check this in the FAQ section http://www.mercurymarauder.net/modules.php?s=&op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=3&categories=Factory+Fixes#7
and do check this: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1028&highlight=linkage+adjustment
There might be more if you do a search for: linkage adjustment.
Good luck. Nice Parade of cars you have there !

Thomas - Welcome aboard. I'am sure someone on this board will have an answer for you. Your problem is probably only a minor adjustment although I have not experienced the condition you discribe. My 300B was produced in Jan 03. John

My Marauder does not have that problem. Sounds like it's time for a trip back to the dealer.
PS: Love the pic! That 68 XL and LTD look great posing with your Marauder!

Welcome Thomas. Nice group of cars you have there.
There have been several reports of this type of problem by members here. It should just be an adjustment of the transmission shifter cable . Get it back to the dealer and let them adjust it for you.

I was told it is a knowen linkage problem. My dealer has promised to fix it at my first scheduled oil change. I will also have a headlight assembly changed (moisture), FM Ant checked (crap reception SP), update program to help correct gear hunt, and I am going to raise hell about the crap paint...You would think a company that has painted millions of cars would of figured it out by now....
