I've got a few light door dings in the rear quarter panel. On the internet I have seen the long hook shaped tools with handles that reach in and rub the dent centerline back into proper shape. How hard is it to use those tools to work the metal from the inside? Any experience you can share?

a few months back a shopping cart got loose from the carry out boy and dinged my rear panel, aft of the wheel well about the size of a quarter. You know the kind, a dimple you can see, it seems, from a 1/4 mile away.
The L/M dealer has a contract with a paintless de-dinger and for $75 he made it look perfect. Don't know what kind of tools or suction cups he used.
Pricing may vary by the ding or the job.

A month ago I had a guy remove a good size dent out of my drivers side passenger door. His initial training was from Dent Wizard but works for himself. Carfixer put me onto him. Guy did a outstanding job. You would never even know there was a dent there previously. Cost $100.

I had a major ding in my impala, I found one of these guys and for $40 the ding was 99% gone. He used a long shaft with a handle that went on the inside of my door along the window and pryed the ding out from the inside, Then he used a metal plate and a rubber hammer to smooth it out, I was very impressed with the results

I have also used a local service, had almost a dozen dings on one of Mustangs, great results for about $100.....

Wow... love that pic of the square headlight mustangs!
I've had some dingers taken out of our BMW and they are absolutely gone.
I'd be scared to learn how to do it on my MM... might be smart to pay somebody that's already practiced... seems lots of them work for cash.

I had a guy take out 4 small dents from my decklid.
He charged me $35 and it took about 10 minutes.
Works for me!

I have used Carsmetics on two different vehicles (including my Marauder) and they have done excellent work at a reasonable cost. The touch ups on my Marauder took longer than the one day they had estimated, so they provided me a rental car at no cost. I am very pleased with their service. Repair costs will vary of course, but estimates are free and there are no surprises once you have a written estimate.

Believe me...its not as easy as they make it look....first off the complete set of tools to do paintless dent removal are $1,500.00 for a basic set and can range up to about $3,500.00....I worked for a detail shop that had these dent techs and it takes hours upon hours of practice....and they practice on fenders and hoods from the junk yard....luckily I have a close friend who has done this work for about 15 years and all I need to get my car worked on is a case of beer and some Fajita tacos. Bottom line is I would not reccomend doing it yourself unless you have had lots of practice.

Yes. Leave this job to the professionals. If you're worried about a 1/4" ding in your car, then practicing on it wouldn't be the best idea ;) Also, for $30-75, you've got nothing to lose!

I agree. Have a professional do the job. I have had this done several times on several of my cars and the result were great! If the paint is not damaged the results can be perfect.

I have a small dent going from the inside of the trunklid upward toward the outside. Looks like the car has a pimple! I wonder if they can handle something backward from the normal dings and dents. The ding is reached with the trunklid open.

I doubt they could do anything without affecting the paint. PDR does all the work on the opposite side as the paint. With that kind of dent, either you have to hammer the paint side or use one of those stud pullers. The stud puller is the thing where a small stud is welded to the sheet metal and a slide hammer is used to pull the metal back in. The welding may affect the paint.
