WELCOME!
The best way to firm up the Tranny is w/ a Tune from Lidio or Dennis. Both ROCK Marauders!
The Oil Gauge is just an Analog Idiot Light. You can replace it w/ an AutoMeter Gauge and Sender.
Both topics have been covered fully, and a Search for both will turn up more pages than you'll need to make a decision!

First off I would like to welcome you and glad for your purchase. First off the tranny can be tampered with with a microtuner and I recommend the one superchips offers. Second the two gauges are dummys. Enjoy your new ride! :welcome:

Welcome! Get an Xcalibrator2 with tune from Dennis or Lidio. You won't regret it. Easy to use! Easy to restore to stock tune if you have to drop it off for dealer warranty work. I kick myself for driving so long without it.

and they wrench their necks to get a look. no takers though, i guess they are smarter than they look

Welcome, kj31067...it's nice to have another New Englander on the board!
Yes, the oil pressure gauge is a fake. AutoMeter sells a real working gauge kit (p/n 4327) that's an almost identical match to the OEM and can be had from Jeg's, Summit, or at most larger speed shops. There a very nice "how-to" here (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/reviews/showproduct.php?product=25). As was also mentioned, the voltmeter does work but many people replace it anyway just to keep an exact match with the new oil pressure gauge.
For correcting the lousy shift schedule, contact Dennis Reinhart (www.reinhartautomotive.com) or Lidio (www.alternativeauto.com) (both are vendors here) for an XCal2 hand-held tuner. You'll be amazed at the improvement in both performance and transmission characteristics, plus it will allow you to make your own changes as you get increasingly possessed by the modding syndrome...resistance is futile. :D

Welcome aboard, and realize you are taking the first step into MOD HELL.
Don't mind me I have to go take a look at my 410's in the box again.

Not gears, but I pull out my Accufab TB and admire it while waiting for spring to arrive for real. :D
