Well, it seems Boost is in my very near future.

My question is, those of you who have boosted (no matter the type), how has the STOCK engine held up under 8-9 PSI of boost over time?

Am I digging myself a money pit?

Dude, you'll be fine up to 12psi.
What blower?

Boosted since October of 04 at 9-10 PSI. No problems. Doesn't matter which blower you choose, at 9PSI you'll have no worries.

Ditto to what they say ^ there, but there is no certain "X pulley will build X PSI" chart, just "in the neighborhood of" expectations. There are more factors to consider.

Put a ProCharger P1SC next to a Vortech "T-Trim" with identical builds and pulleys, and the ProCharger should produce more real time boost. Why? It's a larger blower producing more air charge volume.

Kenny Brown stopped at 9.5 PSI of boost on my #1x with the 3.48 pulley on a Vortech centrifugal "S-Trim". He later built his production Marauder S cars with a 3.64 pulley for lower PSI on the street, 6-8 lbs I believe. This was back in 2002, and since then we have found new thresholds with better tuning, so the numbers are up a bit today, peek at my FAQ "Know your Blower". Meanwhile, you will have no problems staying in the 10 PSI range on a stock engine with professional tuning, from any of the S/C kits available here.

I am presently using a 2.70 pulley on a Vortech "T-Trim" with a built engine. This produces 17.9 PSI real time with SCT tuning from Sutton Ford, which delivers 528 RWHP and 479 RWTQ. But, I have the mods disease too and I am considering some changes this season.

YES!!!   What a way to go.
But at least it'll be more reliable than most women......:run:

Zack, it is either a T-Trim, or an S-Trim (I don't remember which) from Dennis.

Welcome to the Collective, resistance to moding is futile. You will be assimilated.

I don't think anybody is going to guarantee your motor, but so far the odds are in your favor with a good tune. Pay attention at the pump, keep the routine maintenance up, and enjoy!

Pay attention to that post. Its all about the tune and good fuel for that tune. I have been running the longest of anyone on a Trilogy blower, thats right, my Marauder has been Trilogized since summer of 2003, longer than any other Marauder. Not counting Trilogy #1 which has been rebuilt. I IMMEDIATELY went with the higher output pulley which did 12 lbs of boost. It has run with the highest output pulley producing 13.5 lbs of boost for 2 years. So for the better part 3 years it has been at that 13.5 lbs of boost. No problems whatsoever, motor is still strong and holding up well for being stock. The longevity of the motor/supercharger combination is attributed soley to Lidio's expert tuning. Living 5 minutes from Lidio has allowed him to finely tune it to perfection. I wont kid you, Lidio is running one of the most aggressive "safe" tunes on my Marauder, the only one more agressive was his own. The key is he constantly checks on the tune and dynos it regularly to make sure none of the variables has changed. It is all in the tune.

Putting a blower on will shorten its life. The proper tune will get it to last the longest though. You may not get 150k miles out of it anymore. Not everyone has access to someone who can do that proper tune. So, you may want to expect to have to rebuilt in the future. Since you are in Ohio, I strongly suggest driving up to Alternative Auto for the proper tune.

I have 20K miles on the S/C . What Dave has said about good fuel is critical. For 4 months after Katrina 30% of the time I got gas that was less than 93 octane. 3 different name brands in different areas of the state.

I would just have to be careful not to let her knock until the "bad" gas was used up. I now make a habit of carefully listening for knock whenever I put new gas in her. Fortunately it has not happened in the past few months.

She does not burn a drop of oil.

At the track due to the high temps in the Deep South I run race gas as a safety precaution.

I have a race gas and low octane tunes but I have never used them.

"Since Katrina hit my Marauder was my workhorse.

Driving over 15K miles, commuting from Lafayette to Baton Rouge 6 days a week 70 miles each way. Trips to NO, Pensacola, Morgan City, Houma, St. James, Schriever, Covington, Lafayette and Cutt Off.

She never let me down. I frequently slept in her at pilot truck stops where I could take a shower for $9.

We ususally got waived thru the police barracades. Traffic tends to pull over, maybe it's my "NO FEAR" red license plate on the front bumper? She was a topic of conversation at gas stations, restaurants and a good distraction. She is used as a mobile office with laptop and printer.

I also raced her at Gainsville and Atlanta.

I don't know of many cars that can run in the low 12's, haul 5 adults, be a mobile office and have a trunk full of 200lbs in emergency gear. The only competition cost over $100K.

I have seen a lot of comments on this board about some defects. My car has only had window button, a/c clutch, idler pully, radio and air bag connector in 63K miles. Although not perfect an acceptable record in lite of 150+ runs down the 1,320'!

I cannot think of another car that fits the bill for under 100K."

I also had the radio and a/c control heads replaced.

I was told that 2.70 was 14.5 psi. Thanks for posting this there is still hope.:D
