Well today I had my SVT Focus Pump installed along with my boost and A/F guages. Ever since I left the shop, my A/F guage has been jumping all over between super rich and super lean. It never stays in one area. At idle it sometimes stays on super lean, other times its all over the place. Could this be due to the fuel pump? Is the guage installed wrong? I have the Auto meter Pro Comp electric guage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the a/f gauge taps off the stock o2 sensors, it's junk. The o2 sensors will swing full scale one way and another while the fuel trims hunt around to reach 14.7. If they sit high or low then you're in trouble.

The guage I got didnt require an o2 sensor, it had the 4 wires that are installed in the wires from the 02 sensor. Make sense? Is mine junk?

Yeah, pretty much. A DynoJet Wideband Commander or an Innovative Motorsports LC-1 gauge uses a dedicated wideband O2 sensor like a dyno would use.

Did you get anything changed with your tune after switching to the focus pump though? I wouldn't do any WOTs until your a/f get's checked over. You very well may be running lean with the new pump and old tune.

Dammit! I hate finding out I bought junk. I didnt change my tune yet. Ill be doing that very soon, but I have to wait another week. New mods going in. Well...WES!!! I need a guage!

Sell it to a ricer. :D

Just take it easy driving it until you get everything together. It could run lean or rich on open loop (WOT), depending on how the focus pump flows vs. the stock pump. Just FYI.

It's normal for the O2 sensors to hunt like that, and any gauge that connects to the O2 circuit will swing wildly, just like you're experiencing. Get a wideband and have a separate bung installed for it...doesn't matter which pipe. Lidio installed mine in the driver's side, IIRC...

Your gauge isn't junk, it's just not the best gauge for you. It's a light show, some folks like that, others do not. Point is, it's not telling you anything you need to know.

Bob's suggestion about a seperate bung is good advice, and it belongs on the driver's side exhaust pipe, before the cat. The #8 cylinder is the last in line to get fuel, and this is why it's the best place to sample. if you're going to lean out, it will show here first.

I disagree. No 'power improving parts' were added on. A higher volume pump will not affect the tune in any way.

So could I just get a seperate bung and use my existing guage, or should I get a new setup alltogether? Youre right about a light show. Its frickin annoying because its right in my face. Bright at night. Ill take a video of it tonight on my way home from work and post it.

Most of the upscale wide band 02 kits require a change in gauges, Marc, sorry. Here's a website that will provide some 411 on it. Read down, a dash gauge is available.

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=16164&cat=252&page=1 Yes, this kit is one of your options, and IMHO, I find it the most complete and flexible kit on the market. When it's time, I'll be buying this kit.

Any of our vendors interested in staging a group buy?
