View Full Version : Stupid gauge pod - how to reinstall?

So I popped out my center gauge pod to make an adjustment on the little colored cap on the bulb of my boost gauge...and I CANNOT get the darn pod back in place!
It's sitting out about 1inch now.
Anyway, it has a plastic peice behind the face, on the top, that runs horizontally. That part appears to help hold it in place, but it's getting caught behind the face of the dash as I try to put this back on.
I had this problem before, but must've gotten lucky and it went on quick. Now I can't seem to recreate that luck.
Is there a trick? Should I start by pushing it down vertically? I kinda have to go in from the side a bit.
I'm probably completely overcomplicating this but could really use a few tips on how to reinstall the central gauge pod. :) :D

I believe you have to put the top in first then rotate the bottom in.

Yeah, that's what I did. Then it's just a matter of trying to get the little clips on the side to line up. That can be a pain sometimes.

What they said.
I had to take that sucker in and out about seven times in the last month as I added my guages. It also helps to shift into N so that the shifter handle isn't in your way. Angle the pod down, get the top lip into the bottom of the dashboard then push in and rotate up. Line up the two clip an either side and push them in.

The missing clip is probably on the side under the edge of the carpet. This happened to me when i had mine in /out 10 times, when installing a boost gauge.

Thanks guys, I'll finally install my pod today. :) Beend driving me nuts that I couldn't seem to get it back in, done it before! Thanks for the tips. :)
I had a problem reinstalling my pod after I changed out the gauges. I couldn't get the plastic thing behind the faces to engage to the bottom of the IP... much cursing ensued before I figured out how to fix it.
I had to loosen the nuts that held the gauges in a little. I had them tight enough that the plastic rib was deformed such that it would not engage to the bottom of the IP...

Buy the ones in the 'HELP!' area of the autoparts store. My dealer would not sell them to me as a part.
