I was wondering if someone with Photoshop skills could try the following on the picture in the post. Can you take the B-pillar (silver part between the driver's side front and rear door windows) and make that black? Just that part.

I have a friend that keeps bugging me that I should do that. So far I have had no desire, but I was wondering what it might look like.

Thanks.

I think that is what he was looking at using. Or something like it.

What if you made the rear triangle window pillar silver birch to match the Silver Birch B pillar and the morrors black?

Hummm, not sure if I like it or not. I kind of like the silver there to break it up.

Like our blind spot isn't bad enough already.

I like the black B pillar. Makes the area inside the chrome trim appear as one assembly.

While I wouldn't see the need to do that on a dark colored MM, I think the blacked out pillar looks pretty good on the SB.

"Back in the day" in the the world of Oldsmobiles .....

There were years where you could have ordered a 4dr sedan with a pillar ... or without one. The (2) slightly different bodies, had their own unique VIN# & body designation.

The body designation of a sedan that had no visible pillar between the front & rear windows, was refered to as a "Holiday Sedan". The regular pilar equipped cars were called "Town Sedans".

See the attached pics below.

The red 88 in this advertisement for example ... the Vin# would have begun with the sequence of 35639. The CHP 88's Vin# would have begun with the sequence of 35669. If either one of these cars had the 330 in it, rather than the 425, they would have had Vin #'s begining 35239 & 35269 respectively.

Obviously we don't have such choices these days .....

Which is too bad cause' I always thought the "open-ness" of the Holiday Sedans looked much sharper than the Town Sedans.

I'm pretty sure the other GM divisions did similar stuff back in the day as well.

Carry on .....

Just some interesting "pillar" trivia from the good old(s) days.

IMO the black pillar gives a cleaner look.. If I had a SB I would be doing it as we speak.

Well, guess I might have to try it. Any ideas on what material to use and where to get it? I want it to look good, not sloppy.

EDIT: My buddy that brought this up to me in the first place says he has some satin 3M black material that he has used on other vehicles of his with good, lasting results. Do you think a black satin or a gloss black would look better? The gloss would be shinier like the paint, the satin would match more of the black trim and weatherstripping.

Gloss may match the windows better especially if they are tinted.

I like the blacked-out look. My 1995 Taurus SHO had them blacked out and it made the windows on the side look like one big continuous piece. Here's a few tidbits the Taurus ALSO had that I cannot believe my Marauder DOES NOT; remote fuel-filler door release, dimmable visor vanity mirrors, marker lights in the doors and LED third brake light (in spoiler). I love the Marauder more than the Taurus SHO any day. Except the Taurus was paid for!!!
