Looks like the sender is on the trans pan.
I just hookerd mine up tyoo. Cheated and installed the sender on the front of the tube after nipping off the flared end hwere the hose goes. Ala, Joe Walsh, I figured since lifes been good to him so far, I couldn't go wrong!
I used brass fittings instead of the Autometer block.
I'm reading 180 on uphill climbs and 165 seems average.
I'm going to be getting the Autometer angle rings to make the guage look at me better. I have it mounted in the same spot as you do, black_03.

Very cool, I like the red glow look. I tired switching my blubs but it didnt look all that great, was hard to read them. Oh one thing with your sensor wire.....PLEASE wrap that thing up in some good electric tape or put a wire loom on it. It's asking to get burned or coroded depending on where you live at. So a E-150 trans pan fits on the marauder? I'm guessing it's the same size but with a drain plug, is that correct?

What are you doing to get the trans temp up?
Even with the PI converter in stop and go LA traffic I've never hit even 200.
Even 180 is rare.
On the highway I run from 150-about 175 in 80-90 weather.
Unless you got a bad gauge or my trans cooler works very well.

Yes, 250° is WAY too hot, though I doubt you're actually getting that high...sounds more like the sender is defective or (please forgive me, I have to say it) it's wired wrong.
According to 4R70W guru Jerry Wroblewski, 160°- 180° is ideal...and for every 20° above 170°, the life of the ATF is cut in half. Where your sensor is installed, you should be reading at the lower part of the range as the fluid in the pan has just been returned from the cooler.
So a E-150 trans pan fits on the marauder? I'm guessing it's the same size but with a drain plug, is that correct?Actually, the pan is specially made by Ford for E-250s delivered to U-Haul. The part number is F8UZ-7A194-AA. This pan is identical in every way to the stock one, with the addition of the plug.

Very nice writeup!
Psychotic Mental Note:
You would think in this day and age that someone would be marketing radio frequency based automotive sensors and gauges so you didn't have to fish wires all through the car.

It looks like you need a spacer too for the gauge so it sticks out even..Good install:up:

yeah im waiting for the to fix the temp reading.... and it is reading 250f, i took it out down center street for 10 block and came back, just crusing, is it because im reading right from the pan? i know it wired right, i double checked, it slowly makes it way up to 250f in about 20-30 mins of idle/driving.
after i get it reading right im getting the ring to fix the angle its at, need to point AT me

Black 03,
I have a gauge ring for you if you want it.
It allows you to angle the gauge so it is even with the other two.
Send me your address in a PM and I'll get it out to you this week.
