This must be the day for anomalies.

On my way home from Wal-Mart (trying to return an item they sent me by mistake and they wouldn't take it, nor could I send out the package from there like I used to be able to do 'cuz the UPS store relocated, so I wasted the entire trip)

The MM would not go into OD. 60 MPH, around 3500 RPMs. Play with the throttle, just bounces the RPMs up and down, no shift.

Check the dash - no warning lights, O/D light is off. Push button a couple of times to be sure, then play with throttle again with same result. No 4th.

Pull up to next light, shut her down and restart, got up to 60 again, no 4th.

Pulled into post office to send aforementioned package, and TMF gives me some suggestions via cell phone about how to find out what's up. I tell him I'll keep him updated.

Get back into car, get up to 40, and it shifts into 4th just as normal as ever.

WTF?

Anyone ever have this happen? Loose wire? Chip going bad? Is the tranny on the way out and I should order an Art Carr now to expedite things?

Fetch the swami on this one.

Thanks,
-A

Not sure of your problem, maybe do the simplest thing and check the fluid.
I had my tuner make my upshift into 4th at 48mph. It feels so much better and it cured the bog I had at low speeds

Sorry, I have little to no advice for a one-time event. Replicate the problem, and it may help us all narrow down our suggestions.

Once in a while when mine is cold I get the similar results. Goes away pretty quick for me. I do my trans service every 20Kish miles, had a few places take a quick peek, and all seems fine.

I'm going to check the fluid levels, but I just had new tranny fluid when I installed the Stallion a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping it's not related.

Mine does not shift to O/D (lock TC) when cold but after it warms up it works fine.....usually takes two shift cycles to work??:argue:

I figured it was cold fluid and never thought about it anymore since most of the time I'm leaving home and never get to the TC lock speed of 50 MPH.....but it always goes into 4th!!:cool4:

Good Luck and I hope it's just low fluid!!

How many times have you manually shifted the car from 1st to 2nd?

Maybe once -- ever.

It's going to be all checked out this afternoon, and I have a day off Friday to get it "messed with" should it be anything less than a replacement.

Check with "merc". He had some OD problems that sound somewhat familiar about 2 years ago. Seem to recall a C-clip issue.

OMG have we all forgot about the shifter cable adjustment?

I know you've been driving the car a while but this is a classic fault from way back in 2002!
