i had the wondows tinted yesterday. they used 10% on the rear, and 20% on all sides. It definately looks sinister, but now I'm not sure if that's the look I was after. I'm a professional living in a nice subdivision, but now I feel like I should be running with snoop dog or something. not to be racial, but i don't think i did the right thing for me. damn, should have just gone 50% all around maybe. It cost $200.00 to have it done once, double it to get out of it and into something beter for me maybe. darn, live and learn.

darbren - Give it a chance, you will probably like in a couple of days. Change is difficult to get used sometimes. John

I took the 20% off the driver and passenger windows, looks much better now. The dark in the back and rear sides still makes front windows look darker just because less light is inside the car. I don't do much backing up, and when i do i use the outside rear view mirrors anyway, so i should be good to go. I'll post pictures in the gallery soon. please take a look

I have the dark tint all the way around. Not only does it look great, but it is just the ticket for the blazing sun of Southern California. In fact, tinted windows are the norm here. Even police cars have dark tint here.
I do not think it is in contrast with the professionalism expected in my industry (mortgage & financial services).
I did not think I would like the look of tint on the back and not the front, however, yours looks quite good, dare.
Hey James...
He already KNOWS that pic. That's the one he used when he added his "blower" and we all "attacked" him for posting a pic of your car cause we couldn't see the photoshop work because of the van in the background. (sorry again for that darebren...now that you're one of us...we'll protect you the same)
I have not tinted yet, but I am looking to do 35% all the way around.

I do not believe that your profession should be an issue with the window tinting. I did mine. Although a few of the "lesser" qualified attorneys think that my car is a little over the top for an attorney! I say screw 'em.
I figure...it will just be one more thing for my lovely wife to complain about. Hell she won't ride in it anyway.

35% is the legal limit here in Georgia, and it looks good all the way around, an even tone. Just like you said darebren, the less light that gets in, the darker it seems, thats why 35% for me is fine plus it's the Law here.

Anyone know the limits for Illinois? I'm a newby so bear with me,
the lower the percentage the darker the tint? (be kind now).

Can't help you with Illinois tint specs, but to answer your other question, yes...the tint number is the percentage of light transmitted, so the lower the number, the darker the tint...

Yes, that it correct. You may not use any type of film on the front or side windows immediately adjacent to the driver in Illinois.
Illinois Vehicle Code Chap. 625 ILCS 5/12-503(a) et. sqq
However, it does not apply to vehicles manufactured prior to Jan. 1982 (like that does you any good), or if your vehicle is registered in another state-they can't touch you.

ImFletch Welcome to the MM site. You came to the right place. Just about any question about the Marauder, can be answered here. John

Thanks for the warm welcome! Okay then, here's my first question: This is my first Mercury / Ford product. I am a disgruntled former '96 Impala SS Owner who really likes the Marauder but was dubious to say the least about the seemingly low engine displacement and torque numbers. For someone on a modest budget with respect to performance upgrades, what do you folks recommend? I sent a msg to Dennis Reinhart as he seems to be the "Guru" in this dept. Chips, thermostats and rear-end gears are fine but I don't think I am willing to spend the money for a Supercharger. I'm someone who feels Mercury should have offered that... I am open to everyone's suggestions!

ImFletch: Welcome to the best site on the net. Dennis is the place to go for chip, thermo, plugs. Check with your selling dealer and see if they will do the gears. Mine will not!! When I am ready I think I'll make an app. with Dennis and go there and let him do it all. Need an vacation any way....

Fletch:
You're right: Reinhart chip, either the Motorcraft copper plugs or Denso Iridiums, and a 180° thermostat will wake your car up big time...the 4.10 gears will add another boost...give Dennis a call, he'll tell you all your options...you're gonna love it!

Steer clear clear of our Staties....they don't like tint.
50% IN OHIO....STATE LAW...NO QUESTIONS...I have already been hammered. Mandatory removal, and post inspection at the bear's den before the citation and warrant were dropped. Not cool. $100 for the removal.
Good luck, and stay off I-71 in the rural areas, or keep the windows down. I will be doing tint again, but I assure you, no more than 50% on the rear and and driver/pas. windows. The rear doors might take 35, but that is pushin' it in the Buckeye.

The only way around tinting the front side windows in Illinois is with a medical excuse. Find a doctor with a Marauder, he'll understand.

Wow CRUZ... that sucks!
Legal limit here in MO is 35% front sides and anything goes in the rear. I went 15% all the way around (because I push the law like that I guess... :D ). I love it! Dark as hell on the outside, can barely see the seat when the dome light comes on at night, but I can see out perfectly. Only minus I've noticed, is I need to bump the climate control temps up a couple notches when I want it warm inside.

When you consider that trucks, SUVs, and mini vans can come from the factory with privacy glass that you cant see in to, the tint laws for passenger cars are just silly

Just thought I would put my 2 cents in...Here in Jersey, the law says that you can go as dark as you want as long as the windshield, drivers side, and passenger side front windows are not touched (of course if it comes from the dealer that way, it is all good). So I had 5% done on the back windows. It's dark...but I LOVE IT! It is understandable for some who live in those "heat-baking" kind of states for some interior cooling...but I went strictly for the look. And it looks bad-ass!
The funny thing about this window-tinting topic is that it reminds me of last week when I got pulled over for the first time in the MM. It was by our friendly neighborhood Howell Township Police. The guy comes up to my window asking for credentials...so I hand them over and he tells me the reason he pulled me over was for the tinting. He thought I had the front ones done. When he realized I did not...he was very sorry. Funny thing is he asks me how I like my car. So I tell him what we all tell everyone who asks that question and he tells me he has one ordered and will have it in 5 days. I said "good luck" and he said "have a nice day!"...left a little dirt spot on his hood as I was pulling away!

Well, I mentioned interest in the state regs on tinting, so I checked it out.
From here you can get the state laws and the Canadian province laws as well.

Lemme know if something sounds incorrect.
I am definitely there on the tinting. Now all I need is the car . . ..
Thankx guys,
