Well, I just needed to share this with people that understand. Maybe it has to do with the nice weather, the stock wheels/tires going back on, and spending 10 hours (off and on) last Sunday on a complete exterior detail on the car, but I love this car. It still makes me smile every time I get in and drive it and I miss it everytime I have to drive the wife's car.

I look at it every chance I get: walking away after parking it, looking out in the parking lot at work on the way to the bathroom, reflection in other cars when I am driving. I love the size, interior space (for the driver at least), style, and power gets me by - for now.

I can't believe Mercury didn't do a better job promoting this car as I really think they had the basis for a real winner that could have come close to the cult status of the '94-'96 Impala SS. And we have the aftermarket, too. 3 different supercharger kits, a turbo kit, motor parts, tranny, rear end, proven suspension upgrades (Naake, Metco, Addco, etc), at least 3 different big brake upgrades and numerous stock size brake upgrades. And good tuning options. Even with just my JLT CAI and Lidio programmed XCal2, this car is night and day different from stock. Can't wait to upgrade all the above listed items and plop a Trilogy ot PTS turbo on the car!!! This one is a keeper.

Sorry, just one of those days. The weather is beautiful, the car is pretty clean (little dusty), and the trip to work was decent. Although, with gas prices for 92 or 93 octane close to $3 around her, the wife will be driving the Marauder more and I will be driving her Ford Five Hundred for my 95 mile a day round trip commute. Rather put the miles on her car and pay a little less for regular unleaded instead of the Premium for the Marauder. Get to keep miles off the car. I have put 15,000 miles on her in 7 months. Love to drive, but don't want to be ready for a motor rebuild because of high miles when I am ready to do the supercharger.

OK, enough rambling. I home you all have nice weather today and get a chance to enjoy this car will all like so much. :burnout:

Frigging Big Bird pooped on my Marauder last night. Huge splotch on the driver's door. Makes me wanna buy a nice pump shotgun. And, yes, even the wife's Mustang GT is not as fun to drive nor as comfortable.

ERIC,
I really do know what you mean. My 2004 Marauder is the best car that I've ever owned. I get stares at lights. People ask me about the car all the time. People want to race me away from stop lights a lot. And despite the recent increase in the price of premium gas, I still light try to it up every chance I get. After all, that's why I bought it. I wasn't looking for an econocar. I'm always amazed at all the high performance parts that Mercury engineered into the MM. Plus, it's very much like a Mustang GT, in that there are loads of high performance mods available, if you wish to make it even faster. And its also a very comfortable, roomy and safe car to drive on a long trip.

I feel like you do about Mercury not standing behind the Marauder in their marketing. It's like engineering came up with this great car, and did everything they could to make it hot, and then marketing and the dealers didn't know what to do with it! That's a real shame, because this car should still be in production. But thank God we all cared enough about it to actually ourselves buy one. I for one do plan to keep my Marauder as long as I can. And I also do believe it will become more collectible over the next twenty years. I thick It's a better car than the Chevrolet Impala SS. Good luck with your Marauder!
Jim

All of Ford's failures can be blamed on management. The engineers and stylists do an excellent job. Upper management, especially.
