The following story took place on a vacant planet. No, seriously, I don't screw around that often, but no one was around and there were no areas where people can turn off or onto the roadway from a neighborhood or anything like that until about 1/2 mile after we both slowed down.
It was at about 11:30 PM last night and I pull up to the light. The road merges into one lane, so everyone always wants to be first - doesn't matter if it's a Miata verses a Suburban - everyone jumps forward on the green at this light. I slowly come up along side a black Nissan Z, his window half rolled down, just enough to see three orange gauges on the pillar. I wasn't sure about this one, I predicted my loss, but what the heck...
My radio is cranked up moderatly loud, with Killswitch Engage playing and I didn't really care to turn it down either. Glancing over I just saw a middle aged white guy, I could even hear his tunes over mine. The other direction gets a red and "1, 2, 3..." we both hit it. I didn't put it to the floor right away because I'd still be at the light spinning, but I goosed to about 3/4 then WOT a couple seconds later. We start off next to eachother, almost as if we had not left the light and it was like this for a couple more seconds. After that I begin to walk forward. He didn't let off, he was still trying, but I could not possibly hear his engine over my blower with my passenger side window up (he was on my right side) in a matter of 4 or 5 more seconds, it was over and we both let off and slowed down. Well I slowed down, I don't think he was left with much of a choice. I turned off a couple intersections later, as did he. I went left, he went right. He waved off when he turned then I got a good look at this car. It was very nice looking, black, larger rims, and was very clean. Wonder what the gauges were for...
Any of you S/C guys love seeing the look on people's faces when you come up next to them at about 30 or 40 MPH, then roll into the throttle just enough for them to hear the whine?
