Friends,
I need some help. I pledged to help with the media coverage for Marauderville 4. Such an event on a national scale deserves some media coverage. I have gotten responses from a couple media outlets and am still working to get some media there. I am, however, having trouble getting a response from Primedia. They publish the magazines listed below that may pertain to us (and many others that don't). Their offices are in Tampa. I am really working this outlet because some of their publications are ones we actually read and are right on target for our cars. I can't get through by phone. I keep leaving messages. I also can't get a response to email. Is there a member in the Tampa area who is brave enough to try direct contact with the offices? I'll provide some written material. If the willing candidate has some evidence (shirt, plaque, etc) of prior MV's, I'm sure that would help.
Anyone up for a cold-call?
Thanx,
Rich

I know the editor of Mustang Monthly(he was at my house last month for a photo shoot). I will ask he can suggest a source for adding some media coverage.

It'd be cool to have a Meguires booth setup and do polishing of our cars on site. I'm lazy and my car is black! So, I'd be in line.... think before and after shots!

A good contact provided by a member here is beginning to show some promise.
I'm still looking for a volunteer to visit Primedia.
Any takers?
Thanx

F.Y.I...The guys from Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords covered us at MV-I in Ennis Texas, Sep. of '03. They also published photos, but it was several months later.
5.0 also covered NavChap's Marauder, and MartyO's Marauder has been covered as well, sorry I don't recall the mag. Hell, my Kenny Brown #1x was the first to gain national attention in the March '03 edition of AutoWeek and the April '03 edition of Car and Driver. A.J.'s "Marauder VT" made MotorTrend too. Sorry if I skipped one, I can't remember them all, but we have been around.
Sometimes, I just don't get it. We're here and not going away, but still mostly (it seems) invisible. My point is, is that these folks pushing publications to the public know full well who we are, and what we're up too. You would think that any publication would want to cover all the bases, but honestly too, we're up against a lot of competition.
Considering what we have accomplished in the automotive community, why we earn less attention is beyone me. I don't really know.
Sounds to me like a "knock on the door" is your next step. May be worth a drive on your days off, to get into someone's face/office. In general, I have gotten much better response from folks by standing in front of them, than I have in calling, or, by e-mail. Must be my proof of intent, driving a few hundred miles to not get put off, and bringing my sales pitch and product with me. This leaves an impression, half of which says I'm crazy, half of which says I'm devoted and genuine.
Read it anyway you want...

MotorWeek featured Marauder's in a bit about supercharging not long ago. Their offices are in Maryland. They don't do much of the custom meets, but it's another place to try...

Not sure if they stll are, but they used to be based out of Owings Mills MD. Before being on speed they were on Maryland Public TV (MPT) for years.
I say we CAM meet there and do some burnouts in the Motorweek parking lot!
I also heard they used 75/80 Dragway for their tests.

All the magazines listed are owned and published by Primedia. I figuered if we could foot-in-door one, we could allow the publisher to choose the right mag according to what THEY see.
Thanx, Jim. Lemme know how it turns out. PM coming soon.
CAM guys, I'll try to hunt up the motorweek address. Couldn't hurt to show up.

Thanx to a good contact from a mamber here, SuperFord Magazine has expressed an interest in our event, but of course, scheduling prevents promises. I will be keeping in touch with their staff.
