Are the brakes in the Marauder as good as the one on a Police Interceptor or better? I thought I read something that said we had better brakes in our Marauders?:burnout:

:confused:

Tom,

They are good (actually better than good), they are just :censor:ing "butt-ugly". Maybe one of the CV guys can tell you of a comparison. Some here have painted their calipers (red seems to be the choice), I will be looking for an upgrade, either Baer system of see what Dennis comes up with from KVR. Honestly...this is mostly for appearance although 20-25% more effeciency in stopping power should be gained from an upgrade.

My couple of pennies..

Thanks Todd

I find these brakes to be NO better then what I had on my 98 Grand Marquis that's why I was asking. I've never had good luck with the brakes on my GM's, my 1992 brakes only started working good after I had them worked on at a firestone dealer and they replaced everything, the bill was like $900 back in 1996!

Same brakes as a CV or GM. Only diff in CVPI is more aggressive pads.

I'm not thrilled with the brakes either. They're not bad, mind you.....but there is definately room for improvement. My next mod will either be the Torque converter or the Baer brake kit....leaning toward the latter.
The way I see it, if I put the Torque converter in next I WILL need the brakes.

I didn't think the brakes of the Marauder were exactly the same. Aren't the front rotors 12" instead of 11"?

Brake kit is a great investment, better pedal feel, no fade and better stops, not to mention killer looks. Then again, torque converter is a great investment too.

How much would something like that cost for parts and labor?

He's with me --->:stupid:

I don't know the exact cost, you can either check with Sarge or Kenny Brown.

The Brakes are essentially the same as a stock G.Marquis except for the police pads and a vented disc on the rear instead of a solid disc rotor (for better heat disipation). Bigger would have been better. I'll probably add it to my list of future mods. Just finished stage one mods. I think I'll get a couple of payments under my belt before I start tinkering some more.

Does the Marauder not have vented disks front and rear?

The MM's disc's are vented, but not slotted and cross drilled.
