Ok am I an *******? because I wanna know how a v6 cloth interior impala or taurus is "comprable" to my car... honestly I don't wanna be an ass and make a fuss about it, but am I wrong here? I did nothing wrong, someone hit me PARKED and I have been without my girl for the week... then now tomorrow I am gonna go pick up this rental which is a impala, taurus or equivalent... It's something so I can't complain too much, but it seems like insurance is a service, one that I pay alot for, and they cut every corner they can whenever they can :(

B!tch, b!tch and b!tch some more. When our Grand Am was hit by a guy (his fault), I was told the ONLY car they offered was a Compact. I b!tched until they gave a comparable car (actually got a Grand Am). But it took a lot of stern convincing to do.
The MM would be comparable to a Full Sized Sedan / Luxury, IMHO.

Tell them...
Budget Rental lists a Taurus as a Medium sized car.
Budget Rental lists a Grand Marquis as a Large sized car.
The MM is essentially a Luxury Grand Marquis.
Give up with the Grand Marquis !

Actually, most car rental companies consider the GM and Crown Vic as "premium" cars. Taurus or similar is considered "full sized."
And crying is worthless. You should be happy you're getting a rental. A lot of rental car companies won't rent you squat if you're under 25.

Most states are the same on this: On a third party claim, they owe you "reasonable transportation". The age thing as noted above may be a contributing factor as well.
If you can justify a "need" for a larger ride, they would probably provide same (I would).
Keep in mind, everyone pays on the other side of claims. The rates you drive up at the other carrier may beat the rates your carrier offers next year!!

I was without my MM for 9 weeks after my wreck. My insurance covered $25/day at the insurance co's discounted rate at the rental place. I called my financial institution and explained I'd be without my car for about a month. I made an interest only payment, then used the difference to pay the discounted rate on a higher model (volvo s80--best they had available). After the insurance rental ran out in 35 days I made the dealership pickup the tab for the volvo (still at the discounted rate) since they knew in advance how long the insurance rental would last. All in all, I had to swap some bucks around, but ended up more or less even and in a nice car.
BTW, the time was worth it. The body shop mgr worked with me (my best bud was his painter) and through creative use of ins funds, paint, rims, rotors, battery, intake, dead pedal, and carfixer alignment were done and I STILL got about $350 back and didn't have to go out of pocket to cover the deductible! Oh yeah, she's better than stock in body and frame....

actually I am not lucky at all, I am paying for a service. I work many hours a week to pay for my car, I have never had a single claim, I was sitting in a parking space and I am out my car, and now have to ride around in cloth? come now, luck is no where in this equation to me at all. It's not about a NEED for a bigger car it's the fact that they are providing a service, one that I probably pay twice for than the lady who hit me, yet I MUST count my lucky stars because I am young.... Insurance is a scam anways

Forgot to mention....
what a lot of people (me included) overlook is that in your policy you pay for a certain level of rental. I have never seen an agent offer or include anything decent in that premium. If you read carefully, you will probably find your policy only pays for a compact, or proveds a certain $ figure per day, but with rental co discounts and etc, you were 'upgraded' to what you have. I learned that the hard way in my situation. A nicer rental means a higher premium.
Half empty or half full? I understand you're angry. But I think you're still angry at the crazy lady and might be projecting on the insurance co.
It'll work out. Settle down and don't forget about Karma. You'll end up on top.

I guess I misunderstood. Is YOUR insurance paying for the Rental, or the person's Insurance that hit you?
If it is you Insurance, I agree w/ Magindat. YOU get what you pay for. But, still....if it is their insurance..... keep harassing them until they give a comparable car.

Same insurance company, and under the circumstance, the wording goes "to be provided with rental vehichle of comparable size and function" twas what was said to me. I'm not gonna fight em on it, I just wanted to know if it's really unreasonable to expect them to do what they say the will... I mean if I was to say I'm gonna pay for my insurance, but don't... do they still cover my car?
