I think the seats in the MM are the worst I've ever been in for a performance (or other) car. No support or bolstering, little adjustment. My biggest complaint is that they're too soft. Has anyone else been frustrated by them and found a way to improve upon yet another item that Ford couldn't....

Might be a way to fab a seat from an SHO Taurus?

The Marauder wasnt intended to be a sports car, Its more a high performance luxury sedan. I love my seats and wouldnt trade them for anything

I will say that after driving that SRT-8 Charger (great seats) and getting back into my Marauder it felt like I was sitting on a sofa.

That's the first thing I noticed when I got a close-up look at the SRT-8 vehicles in the Dodge display at WDC/MVIII last year.....THE SEATS LOOKED AWESOME!!!
Serious SPORT buckets with thigh and shoulder bolsters in a rich black leather with nice contrasting stitching.
I was trying to figure out a way to get a similar set for my Marauder with the side air bags....:(

I too dislike the factory MM Seats. No side bolstering what-so-ever. Wouldn't really expect it, but it would have been a well appreciated item.

While I understand your point that the MM seats don't offer much lateral support, they are pretty comfy on long trips (to me).
I plan on beefing up the bolsters a bit when my car gets a little older, as FMC was a little chintsy on padding there.
You could always get recaros, but would have to bolt them into your personal seating position and lose any back and forward adjustment.

I love the MM seats also, and don't slide around - cause I don't have any room to slide around!! Sad, I know.
Otoh, the SRT seats look great. I believe that those same seats are available on the Charger R/T and part of the Road and Track package, and that they come with yellow stitching to match your Top Banana paint etc.
Yes, you can get a Charger R/T R/T.

I have to agree and disagree. I told myself when I bought another car after my accident in 10/05 I would without a doubt replace the seats because I was hit so hard in the rear by a drunk driver my seat did not stand up to the geometric force of me going forward and slamming back into it as you can see. http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_14.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=14.jpg) http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_13.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=13.jpg) http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_8.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=8.jpg) http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_2.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=2.jpg) No support what so ever a Ford Focus ZX3. After getting hit, I went into a spin and then slammed into a tree which caused my head slam into the rear driver quarter panel because I was so far back. Had no clue my seat was like that and my head busted the window until I saw it the next day at the tow yard. End result http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_5.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=5.jpg)http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/th_16.jpg (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/?action=view¤t=16.jpg) I miss my little fast red bubble. Had 201fwhp and 192ft. lbs tq.
The thing you have to remember about the Marauder is that it's a cruiser car. It's ment to be mildly driven, though I am wondering how the seats will hold up and make me feel for Marauderville in Nov. which should be about 13-14hr straight drive for me. I do agree about them not hugging you, I try to keep the leather clean and conditioned as possible to keep the wrinkles away which makes the leather softy when I use the stuff but I hate hitting an off-ramp at high speeds and just sliding up against the door or all up on the center console, I want the seat to hug me, even in my Focus the seats hugged me (6'2" 240lbs) better than the Marauder does. I've thought about after getting my settlement money from the accident going up to NY to talk to the guys at Unquie Motorsports and getting the seats re-done with more aggressive kidney and hip huggers which they will need to redue the leather and foam. I just dont want to give up the OEM look of them, everyone that looks inside of my car is amazed by how nice it looks and get a lot of "man these seats are nice" but the one thing I do want that I wish the car came with OEM would be cooled seats lol and maybe get the S55 look with some color stiching done but when I think of silver I think of blue to go with it though maybe some silver stiching would be nice and get a Mercury God Head on the headrest.......(drooling). Funny thing is, I drove a 1995 Taurus SHO for the 8 years previous to the Marauder purchase. I loved those seats!!! The Marauder ones are soft and let me tell you something - I put leather conditioner all over the seats and felt like I was gonna go UNDER the seatbelt while stopping! I kinda wish the seat went lower, I can handle everything else.

i m 6' 5'' 250 lbs they are very comfortable yeah they could use a little more side bolstering but nice all in all my 97 crown vic p71 must have a 300 lb leaner in it because the seat pitched hard to starboard hated it had to buy a console for it hard left and you were pushing yourself off the pass seat sucked

You have to ask yourself this question, "Would the company that didn't put a "dead pedal" in our car really think about putting some real "sport" seats in it?"

Kenny get a KB dead pedal installed. It truly makes a world of difference. WOB:D
Just an idea - Drive a new Mustang GT. Great bolster on those seats, great color combos and probably bolt right in. The charcoal border/red center panels would really fit the S55 scheme. No god's head though.

the Leather is slippery at 165 and 6ft. I do find the side bolsters
lacking.I still like the seats they justdon't fit me like I would want for aggressive

I'm 6'3" 290lbs, with a 40" waist, and my seats are perfect. Granted, I haven't driven the "Dragons Tail" but I think my MM seats are one of the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. I like the big couch feel. The MM is a cruizer, and a racer. I love it.
My wife has an SRT-4, and I'm a little too big for those...but I have sat in the Charger/Magnum SRT-8, and those seats are very comfortable too.

When I had my 89 Formula, I had bolted in a set os seats from a 99 WS6 T/A Car. best seats ever with those nice bolseters and power lumbar and bolster supports
I love the seats and I would not change them for daily driving.
I have searched a little, with no luck, for items I could use to temporarily convert the belts to a racing style and bolster the side some. I will do a more aggresive search when I finish some of the mods.

I like the seats in my MM. After having a 95GTS, 2 1992 GMLSHPPs, and 2 1995 CVPIs, these are a vast improvement over the seats of my previous rides. To me, being 5'8" 155lbs would not put a dent in the cushions, either.

I think a 4-point can be bolted to the back seat bolts. Tuck it under the back of the seat to hide. Pull each point around/over the seat to race. I know there are belts available with various tail lenths to reach up and over our seats.
That's what I plan on when it gets to that point. Right now, I'm still trying to get fast enough to justify my cool helmet!

I have actually hit them with my knee more than once while driving and, consequently, adjusted the seat forward on-the-fly without intending to...
Looks like the solution to my problem with our seats is to just eat a whole lot more and stop working out...;)

If you are looking for a Recaro-type of sport seat, then of course you would be disappointed in the MM seats. The seats in the Marauder were supposedly intended to attempt to replicate the type of seats and sew patterns that were found in the earlier Marauders (1960's/1970). I think that they do that actually very well. But this may not be such a good thing as it first appears. I really think they tried to just marry the previously available buckets seats from the 2002 Ford C/V LX Sport, probably just to save money. In this context they were also very successful. Remember that the bucket seats in the 1960's were very large in keeping with the larger cars, and they were comfortable seats by today's standards. They were standard equipment on the early Marauders and the Grands Prix's, etc. My 1965 Corvair Monza convertible had large sport bucket seats. My 1981 Buick Riviera had the larger 45/45 bucket seats also. But they were not strictly sport bucket seats, no matter what the marketing people called them. Back then time I remember liking those seats a lot! The more slender sport styled seats came in with the late sixties Camaros.
*
I'm personally very comfortable in my 2004 Marauder seats though, so I guess that I must have a big butt also. My little grand daughter Madison (5 years old) always tells me, 'grandpa you've got a big 'ole butt!'. So, I guess I must have one.
*
What I was the most nervous about initially, was that inboard seat belt anchor assembly that comes straight up through the seat about 1-1/2 inches from the console. This seems like a really weird design compromise, but I honestly have had no problems with that in sitting down comfortably and driving my Marauder.
*
The SHO seats, from the early Yamaha V6 era, were taken right out of the Thunderbird Super Coupe. I'm 6 ft 2 in tall and the seat cushion is way too short for my legs, for me to really be comfortable, and they don't adjust for longer legs, and the seat is not as solid feeling as the MM seats. The power side wings are a very nice touch, but only if you're a slim shaped person. The sport bucket seats in my old 1987 Mustang GT convertible were the best bucket seats I've ever had. The front could be pulled out to adjust for longer legs, and the headrests were high and adjusted all the way forward and back. They were just great seats.

Well I think in this case.. I wouldn't say Ford couldn't.... they CAN... but thank GOD didn't !
I had an 03 Cobra and that seat was as firm and wrap around as you would need... but it wasn't comfortable for any distance. I'll take the MM the way she is thanks.

No, sir. Made to go from floor up and over seat back. (hence no safety rating)
But, they'd still hold your azz in the seat while turning!!!!
