Congratulations it looks beautiful in silver. Have you a plan for breaking everything in? I think it takes a few miles before eveything get's seated properly and everyone has an opionion on how many miles and what to do in the first few hundred.

I'm taking about 50% back roads on the trip so that I can vary my speed. I'll do that for the first 1,000 miles.

DOK, congrats.

I took delivery on my "Silver Birch" on Friday am, sunny day. Got rained out on Sat., but had it out all day on Sunday.

Heres the details for those interested: Happy, 8 miles on car, extremely happy I waited for the Silver, great call.
Took the $3500 cash back, fought for the $500 AQHA. Sales Manager had Ford on the phone in front of me trying to get a progam # for AQHA benefit. They declined stating Merc. vs. Ford, but I used it as ammunition previously, & he had already committed to give it to me. He wasn't happy & copied my membership card, the literature I had, & stated that he was going to fight it. (On the window sticker, large as life: FORD MOTOR CO.)
Sticker $34,790, purchased for 28,155. After tax/ tags= $30,222.

Went over/ under the car very carefully. Did find SMALL dents underneath in the corners of the trunk pan, along w/ some overspray. Not very noticable due to the color.

I am completely tickled to death w/ this vehicle, I can't keep my foot out of it!
I can't see doin any mods, it has enough power as is. This thing GROWLS!
Had the boyz over, few silver bullets, debating on the "Red 4.6 High Performance" emblems for the front quarters. All agree, NOPE, it will change the whole look. It takes away the ELEGANCE the vehicle has.

To sum it up, Instant Classic, Sleeper, completely happy.
I'm tryin to convince some close friends not to SNOOZE!

I wanna check it out at the next meet some of us NY, NJ & PA guys have. i've never seen the silver in person, and Effsters got the blue in our group so all we need is a silver to be complete:). at first I couldn't see myself doing any mods, but im being sucked into the temptation:D

Looks fantastic in Silver. They really should have introduced that colour last august. Damn the silly new colour every six months idea.

What's the PCM calibration code on the latest cars?

Pretty car dok,the Silver looks much better in natural light than harsh glare of Auto Show. I thinkI like it better than black. Hey Bill, are you listening? Make my Supercharged Marauder in Silver. Ikind of wonder how it'd look with a satin silver grill.

The grill comes right off and could easily be repainted. That would make the car look even schweeter!!

Wow...silver looks a lot better than I thought. Definitely better than blue.

But I still like black the best for this beast.

How's the quality of the finish - any swirl marks in the clearcoat or dirt painted onto the car?

Hi DOK, I work in service dept. at Vantage LM. Tried to meet you before you left yesterday. Very nice car! Just for kicks I took a laser thermometer and compared interior temps on your car versus a Black one. Incredible 40 degree temp difference in direct sunlight. If you want to test ride w/me in mine before you "upgrade" anything feel free to contact me.

August temperatures will tell the tale. Yikes...:alone:

All three colors are beautiful. I own a black one. However, by far the Silver is my favorite.

I think I'd be cool to blacken the wheels on a silver unit! :)

Thanx all, for the kind words.

Small spec of dirt in paint on the truck near the badge. No swirls
in paint. Noticed a small stone chip bottom drivers door, wasn't there when I left the dealership. Can see that mud flaps may be a good idea.
Will search this thread, but can someone save me time? Can I make the Grand Marquis mud flaps work & will it look good?
Is that my best option?

Speaking of mudflaps. Can someone post a pic of them on the MM. The bottom of my doors look worse and worse everyday.

Ron,

Mudflaps are still an issue. Only the GM fronts work...rears don't. Several of us would like some but, I haven't seen proof yet of anyone finding a solution.

when I was in Canada recently the store "Canadian Tire" had sets of molded mud flaps for Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis. These had a flexible lip on the outer part that would form around the fender and quarter panel edges, rather than being rigid. They just might work for the rear of the Marauder where the Ford ones do not.

I continue to be amazed. We hear about these new colors, then maybe see a "spy photo" long before production. My response is usually "yuck."

But then a member posts a pic and they look spectacular! Like this one.

Makes me think I'm gonna be in trouble when / if the dark red is released (wife's favorite color).

Beautiful. Enjoy!

Silver is a very classy color and makes a statement of "Elegance"
Put that together with "Marauder" and you have a refined classic Muscle Car with Brawniness and Grace. Kudos on your Silver Marauder.:rock:

Since the regular GM offers Silver Frost, I thought that the nicer color (Silver Birch) would be a "Marauder only" color.

But, dealerships in North Jersey are starting to stock Silver Birch regular GMs. I guess Silver Birch has replaced Silver Frost. (Still no Silver Birch Marauders.)

From the pictures, car looks good in Silver. More of a sleeper.

So, guess consumers in Missouri have to suck wind on any color except Black & Blue!!
I ordered Silver Birch in April 03 and was told the color was not 'right' for the order...supposedly pulled from the assembly line and rejected outright after dealer said car was being shipped.
MALARKEY all around on this color thing...very NEGATIVE about the BLACK unit I had to take; as I live in a rural location with unpaved roads for residence access. Oh well, living the 'good life'
with a dirty car is one of few drudges in my retinue.
Local CAR WASH operators have to make a living too!!

MM will remain STOCK as my foot is bigger than my wallet.
Love remains in spite of the shortcomings...hell of a ride!!

Hey...forgot to mention the leather jacket...dealer stated the offer ended in 12/02.
Then I received a note from Elena Ford (Merc. brand mgr.) rescinding the edict and asked for my 'size'...guess the jacket will allay my disappointment with color rejection...we'll see.
With my luck, the jacket will come in Silver Birch color!!!!!

I would bet that the dealer wanted to move one of his Black ones, so told you that it had been canceled.

I have yet to see a Silver MM on a dealer lot in MO. I dunno what's up... other than the fact MOST of the dealer's I've talked to are not going to pre-order any more MM's. :(

That seems to be the case in North Jersey, also.

Most drivers need to test drive a car like the Marauder before they buy it. Vicious circle: no cars, no demo; no demo, no sales; no sales, no cars.

The 2004-5 end date for the Marauder just about coincides with the new Ford sedan offerings.

With my luck, the jacket will come in Silver Birch color!!!!! Bought my 300B in Jan and the dealer told me that the offer was still on. I received my jacket approximately 3 weeks after purching the Marauder. John:D

Yes, and the latest rumour is that it isn't just the Marauder that may bow out for the 2005 model year. Maybe the Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria as well, to make a debut a year or so later (possibly including a Marauder).
This would coincide with a previous announced 2006 body redesign for the CV/GM
