In the last 3 years the C.A.M members from MercuryMarauder.net have attended these events. We all have had a great time and plenty of runs. My personal record is 18 times down the track in a single event. The money spent is will worth your time.

I'm planning on being there May 06 with the Marauder.

So, who all is going on the 6th? Could be a great day for drag racing, we gotta get some MM's there!

I plan to go. I'm going to run on my OEM rubber most likely, might as well see if I can break the 12's on the worn OEM's! I have leads on the slicks or DR's, just not sure I'll be pulling a set together by then. Anyway, I need a new helmet, the one I used last time hurts my head - it's too small!

I might be coaxed into running a few 1320s....:D

Really depends on the weather. Hopefully it'll be cool and dry.

merc, how much for non-members?....can we pay at the gate, or only in advance?

You can pay at the gate, the price is the same for non-members. I will be there in the morning.

How early are people planning on getting there? I should be able to prep the car the night before so I may only be an hour or so away in the morning, I could probably be there pretty early.

Anyone else?

Alan (Elmo) and I were planing on leaving Manassas at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. You will have to check with the others on departure times. Oh, you can use my drag radials get that sub 13 number you are seeking. I am bringing the floor jack and a couple sets of tires.

Breadfan

That would be awesome. :)

I'm realizing I may be in a bind for tires, my OEM's have nearly 30k on them, I'm gonna have to make a decision on new street tires soon.

Now let's just hope it doesn't rain, lately the rain seems to be targeting weekends...

Breadfan

So whats the head count thusfar?

BTW, I ordered my new helmet from Jeg's today. Nothing too special, just a black open face G-Force, SA2005 compliant. Should match the car. Hopefully I'll have it by then, Jeg's seems to say it ships same day and they have 1-2 day shipping, so we'll see!

From the Marauder board the Head Count is:

Merc
Breadfan
Haggis
LadyHawk

The weather may be a problem again.

I'm keeping an eye on the weather right now. Looks like it's only 8am - 12pm for racing, I take it we are sharing the track with regular test and tune?

Anyway, I will go if it's nice out, obviously, rain = no go.

I hope it holds out though, I want to test out my new safety gear. Gotta give Jeg's credit, ordered that stuff around 2pm yesterday and it shipped last night and according to FedEx will be at my door tommorrow. Not bad for only a $10 handling fee.

Cool you beat me to it. :) The details show rain ending early AM, maybe even rain around 6am, but partly cloudy by 9am. I think we'll be good.

I'm thinking of leaving at 7am, which puts me there around 8...should I try to get there earlier?

Maybe, if you like to cool down the car for an hour. Remember you are going for a 12 second run. Cool morning air, drag radials, and track prep should put you at a 12.8.

I'm probably going to leave my place at around 0630. I think I'm only about an hour from the track, maybe less at that time of day on a Saturday.

I do not have my torque wrench in my apartment, my big ft lb wrench is at my parents house, I only have my inch lb one...so I'm probably not going to loosen the rear tires tonight. I'll have to fight with them at the track.

I'd prefer not to drive an hour on untorqued rims, maybe that's craziness on my part?

Anyway, according my FedEx tracking my stuff is waiting for me at home, new SA2005 helmet and black 1-layer fire jacket.

Even if I don't play the part too we'll I'll hopefully look the part!

See you there.

Bummer, we'll miss ya!

Well, I'm about ready, just need some sleep now. Prepped the car tonight including an oil change which I realized it was 12am when I finished...geez, I wish I didn't do stuff like that!

But I pulled my basslink out, put all my trunk items in a big rubbermaid box for easy removal, tossed tools in the car, did a preflight check, oil change, washed it, and tried on my new helmet.

OK now I just gotta not sleep through my alarm. Should be there between 730 and 8.

Sorry Guys...No can do!

I REALLY want to run some Impalas but:

I've only got Saturday for all my weekend's work & chores as I'm attending the Maryland SAAC chapter's car show up in Hanover, Pa. on Sunday.
(I know...why does the Maryland Shelby club hold their show in Pennsylvania??)

The test and tune turned into a tire and test event for Team VA Marauders. Bredfan and I switched between Nitto 555 extreme (non-drag radail) and BFG Drag radials. The DTR Marauder was hooking up on ET Streets and had four 12.1 second passes with one .010 reaction time.

He has 2 Marauders and is currently not online. I forgot the name but he is local to the Manassas area and loves to race. He is currently a NVMC members. He claims to have a few 11 second runs under his belt with race gas.

Breadfan
05-07-2006, 04:29 PM
Yeah, I too can't remember his name, I think he's told it to me atleast twice by now...I'm sure we'll see him again, he's at Burger King sometimes, and looks like he makes these NVMC events.

I had a blast yesterday, spent so much time in the pits changing tires and such I hardly watched any racing, yet somehow had more fun. I gotta agree- that's what it's all about.

My roommate came along and got some good photos though, I was glad I got to see what I missed!

I was hoping to get into the 12's but not this time. Got a 13.14 on my first run, walking out very conservative on the dr's. Second time on them though I got in it too much and sat at the light spinning. Gave up partway down the track and crusied through the 1320.

On the Nitto streets they acted about the same as the OEM's, showing it's not tire size, it's tire compound that really makes the difference. I'm off to find some V6 mustang rims like that DTR...

Anyway, here's some pics, more are here: http://www.neuralimpulse.com/cars/drags3.html

I think these are the 16 x 7.5
5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern wheels you are talking about. The below links is selling them for cheap.

So cool...I forgot to write the size down that day and nearly forgot. That makes picking them out easier. They worked so well for him I think I'll just buy the same tires on that size.

Just gotta be careful, he looked like he had tons of grip - I don't want to install those Moser 31splines just yet! :cool4:

Without seeing your 60' times some of what I'm about to say is based on assumption. I saw the picture of your run 13.1 @ 105 mph. Your car can do high 12's on street tires and stock wheels...if you train your right foot...not at the track, there is already too late.

Practice your launch at red lights...just the launch nothing else,ok? You do it until you find out where the edge of your launch goes from hard and SILENT to tire noise...it works even though it may sound silly...Good Luck. Javier.
