It is $319 if you pay by US Postal Money Order. Or $329.07 if you pay by paypal (which is actually the easiest way to pay and quickest of course.).

I cant tell you how much extra power but I would read throug the original thread started by me for the 1st round of the group buy. There were some links to Mach1registry website that showed dyno numbers etc.

And also some seat of the pants comments from some of the guys who got in on the 1st round.

The gains were minimal. My gains were 3 hp and no measurable torque advantage. We adjusted the A/F from 13.40 to 13.00. Then increased the timing 1 degree and lowered the knock table value. The cars seems to respond in second gear better, but I will not have track numbers for another 2 weeks.

From what you have described, the gains came from tuning, leaning out the cars AF and adding timing. But every little bit helps.

Dennis, I hope to find out on your dyno soon, but the TB gains will be clouded by other mods.

With a modified exhaust and an intake along with a baseline DR tune, I noticed the following after the TB install.
Faster engine spool (throttle response) when not in gear
Gradual increase in pedal resistance as more pedal used
Little more SOTP pull (especially after 2500 RPM)
Ability to unhook my 20's on dry pavement.
Idle correct according to tune (was not correct with stock TB)
More sucking noise (characteristic of JLT)

I'd have to say the numbers for NA car would be a modest 5-7 HP, but with gains in torque above 2500-3000 rpm.

Dennis's tune shifts 1-2 at about 3500 RPM and 30 MPH. This shift hit relativley hard before. After the TB, I try no to hit it over 3/4 throttle. The car actually torque twists on this shift when at WOT.

No real dyno #'s just SOTP educated guessing.

I'd say it's worth the grin factor and bling factor on NA car even though $/HP ratio is a little high.

my $.02

Thanx, Todd

Gradual increase in pedal resistance as more pedal used
More sucking noise (characteristic of JLT)

I've noticed most of these as well. I think the stiffness could just be attributed to a stiffer throttle spring. My cruise control has noticed it too; it takes slightly longer to engage and over compensates at first when it does. It will probably wear out over time, but I for one like it. I've driven mostly carbureted cars before the MM, so I prefer a little stiffer pedal. And as I've said before, I love the sucking noise at around 2000 rpms. I would highly reccomend buying this to anyone who has a number of NA mods (as I did), if for nothing else than to make them all as efficient as they can be.

Were there numberwise obviously.

I just wanted to give it a couple days to make sure no ojne else wanted in. LAst time I waited a week and afterwards another 14 or 15 people wanted in. I wanted everyone that wants one to be able to get one this time.

Since my motor just blew, after this group buy I will be busy focusing on that. So I will not be able to do a 3rd round to catch any straglers.

Probably wait till Friday and then start sending instructions on payment etc....

I'll keep you guys up to date.

Right now I am waiting on the shop to get confirmation on when the order could be shipped to us.

I will follow up again today.

As you can imagine, I have been a little pre-occupied with loosing my motor and now trying to figure out the best route to take to get her back on the road and able to handle the kind of hp and tq I want to throw at her. I just bought another vehicle to drive around while I am getting her squared away. So now I have more time to devote here. I didnt forget about it. I just didnt press the shop for status like I normally would.

I will post status tomorrow hopefully.

Dont know if I could get over to Reinharts next week. Its about a 45 min. ride for me. And dont know if we would even have the TB's in by then. But I will see what I can find out.

Todd
05-04-2006, 07:55 AM
The shop is going to check right now and call me back. The person they order them from has been out of town. He got back in town last night and called the owner of the shop about some other stuff.

The deal will work very slightly different this time.

I like everything run in a very organized and orderly fashion. Which the duplicate shipments last time went against the way I like to see things run.

So this time I want to get all payments in before lets say the 15th of May. Then I will pay them and everyones throttle bodies will ship the same day off one master list..... Thay way there is no confusion and no (or at least almost no) chance of shipping mistakes.

I will post here when it is time to send payment along with instructions.

The guy the shop gets them from has to wait for the owner of Accufab to get back in town to confirm availability.

He was supposed to be back either yesterday or today. As soon as I get confirmation I will post instructions. I will most likely pm everyone my paypal address or physical address, depending on how they want to pay.

I tried logging on yesterday a couple times to post status but it said there wasa problem with the database or something.

Todd
05-15-2006, 10:20 AM
I finally got word that there are plenty available.

So the group buy is on.

Although I want to give a caveat to this. With my motor being down and having to deal with the process to get another, I am not on the site as much for now. So hopefully if anyone has questions, please try to self moderate this thread and help each other answer the questions. I will of course answer about the process but please help each other with technical details about the product.

Details of payment,

I will pm everyone to ask what form of payment they want. Paypal for $329.07 or US Postal Money order for $319.

When I get your response I will send you the appropriate address.

We will cut off the group buy on May 24th. Which is a Thursday. All payments need to be in by then. If not, you are not in the group buy.

That gives over a week and half to get it here. If you do paypal, obviously it will be here right away. If you send a US Postal Money Order, you may want to send in a Priority mail envelope. That way you know it will get here on time. But it is your choice.

Most importantly.........

INCLUDE YOUR USER NAME ON ANY CORRESPONDENCE... In the envelope with the money order or in the notes on the paypal.

I could be off base here, and I'm sure the others will correct me if so, but I'd think that a supercharged engine would see more gains from this throttle body than an n/a application.

No dumb questions here Bud...I am S/C'd on two of my RoadPigs and I am only doing this switch, really, is to only "smooth out" the airflow/airpath. I am not expecting monsterous gains anywhere...just taking any rocks or bumps out of the path.

I have followed this thread since it was first brought up and have yet to read if any member has indeed installed this mod. and to what, if any gains over stock. I, like many others search for any extra power, but have learned that there are some mods that are mods just for the sake of modification, no real results in H.P only time and money spent.

You must not have read the 1st round group buy thread.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25901

Please do your homework and read that thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

If you go to the 2nd half of that thread you will read where people start getting them and installing them. There are also links to another board where people with Mach 1's have installed them. They share their results as well.

Still no word from the guys on the list I have marked as waiting on response.

The TB's are on thier way.

In addition to a blown motor, I am working 14+ hour days as you can see from the timestamp on this post. 4:30am and I am still working from 9am yesterday with a break in the afternoon for dinner.

But with all this other stuff going I am still going to keep the group buy on target.

The TB's should be here in the next couple days and will ship immediately.

Thanks for all the great info, Todd. You have done a fantastic job helping out other members and building a real nice Marauder yourself ! I am gonna passon the TBs as my needs may be more attainable by making other mods. I have noticed a major loss of power since the local gas stations have gone to 10% ethanol ! Nope, all my springs are solid, and I have the new Accufab TB with the "new throttle spring" and bellcrank as well.....

Was there suppose to be a "new throttle spring" with the Accufab TB ?
If so, mine didn't come with one, I used the old spring.:dunno:
Anyone else in the same boat as me ?

Yes, mine came with everything, with exception to the TPS. It just bolted right in.

I'm curious if the "new spring" has a stonger tension than the stock one.
I need to know why my Accufab TB didn't come with a "new spring"...... "Todd, where are you":dunno:

Yes, I think the Accufab TB has a stiffer spring than stock. I personally like it that way. Feels a little more like a carbureated car, which I have always preferred.
TODD, I thought I would post on this thread because I wasn't getting the response I needed on the other thread...."Throttle Sticking"
Just want to clarify that we are talking about the same spring, the spring I'm refering to is the one that looks like the spring from a pen, just longer and bigger that attaches on the side of the TB.
Has everyone received this new spring except me ? Please Help.

I didnt read your other thread. I have been extremely busy with my car, work, and some other stuff.

But I think the spring they are all talking about is the spring that is attached to the rod that goes through the center of the throttle body that the blades are mounted on. It is, IIRC, on the side where the throttle cable mounts to the tb. It is not a spring that you need to put on the unit. In fact, it is self contained on the throttle body. Not attaching to the car at all.

These springs are built into the tb's and are not an extra item or an accessory. It is the same design as stock but with higher tension. Maybe by design, maybe because it is new and our cars are all a couple years old. I dont know....

What some people were commenting about with the 'new spring' is that the accufab has more tension it seems. I never experienced any kind of sticking at all.

If you are having sticking problems, I would take the throttle cable off, take the inlet tube off, and while looking down the throat of the tb open and close it with your hand. If it does stick you may be able to tell where it is coming from.

If not from there, maybe there is something with your throttle cable or cruise control cable.

If you addressed these suggestions in your thread, sorry. I will try to search for your thread and read tomorrow.

I had waited a few days after my original date to make sure all stragglers were taken care of and to hear from Krytin and Runout. I haven't heard from there and no more stragglers have posted they want in so the throttle bodies should be here in a couple days....

They will have a list already prepared to be ready to ship to all of you as soon as they come in.

I just wanted to give a quick update.

They are still waiting on the TB's to show up. It is taking a little longer to get the units this time. They are coming striaght from Accufab so there is not someone in the middle delaying things.

I am still waiting on 1 (or more, have to look at the list) payments and still havent heard back from I think 2 people.

So we are really coming up short on this against how many people originally said they wanted one. But this is a risk I wanted to take so we didnt have to wait till everyone confirmed, then everyone paid, then the units were ordered and waited for them to come in.

So if you guys know anyone who wants one, there will be a few left. Same price as the group buy. Those prices will extend till they come in and I get the master list over to the shop for shipping. After that they go on his shelf for sale to the public for retail.

No problem. I'm stuck in Atlanta for the next two weeks on business anyway. Thanks for the update Todd!

Got mine too Todd.
You forgot to ship the spare time to do the install though:confused:
Seriously, it looks great and can't wait to install next to my jlt intake, courtesy of you too.:2thumbs:
Will this require tweaking of my DR tune?

Glad you got it Jim.

I was going to try and meet you somewhere since we havent had a breakfast lately but I figured shipping it would be quicker... Which reminds me, when are we having another?

I got a new motorcycle to show you. A BMW sport bike. No, it isnt an old man cruiser BMW. It is an actual sport bike. The only sport bike I could fit on with me being 6'6" and 260. I wanted something faster than my last bike which was a Big Dog Chopper. The new one is VERY sweet.

You could get your tune touched up if you want. But you certainly dont need to. It might be cool to do a before and after. Maybe Dennis could help out on the price if he was doing the before, after with no tweaks, and then tweaking the tune to see what it would do after install.

Call me if you are going to go over there. I will ride thye bike over if it isnt raining and I am not working. Or lets plan another breakfast soon. There are a couple new places by the new mall at 9A (St Johns Town Center). 'The original Pancake House', Mimi's, and some others.

Everyones throttle body has been sent out except 'Mike Marauder's. His payment came in the mail today and his TB should ship tomorrow.

I guess the others that confirmed they wanted in have changed their mind but forgot to let me know. No big deal I guess. Guess it is one of the hazards of running the group buy like I do. Not requiring money upfront. I just like to get things going much quicker so guys get the parts sooner!!!!

This thing is about over. If anyone else wants one let me know and I will fill you in on payment instructions. Otherwise I am calling it quits.

I have been swamped with work, car, motorcycle, engine, etc. and still got the 2nd round off the ground. So it is time to refocus on these other things to start checking things off my list.

Thanks all for getting in on the group buy!!!!!!!!!! And sorry for the slight delays.

Please remember to add a trader comment to my profile. I will do the same when I get notice you left yours. That way its easy for me to keep track of who gets theirs when.
