I know I want to get a Xcal2 unit but I was reading on JLT's website that tunes for different fords are already preloaded onto the vehicle. My question is if I bought one for my Marauder would I also be able to use it on my 06 F-350 diesel at the same time and having to stock saves on the unit and the preloaded tunes in the vehicles at the same time?

i dont know this for sure... but most tuners are for use on one vehicle at a time they go by VIN#, or else i could buy a tuner and share it with 50 of my buddies.

Yeah I understand the one VIN at a time but I thought that was only for the same type vehicle. Like if you had 2 Marauder's it will only work on one at a time. I'm just trying to figure it out if I can use it on 2 totally different vehicles at the same time.

You can check with Dennis Reinhart, but I believe they are only good for one car.
P.S. Oh yeah. My MM pinged something awful on that new ethanol mixture they're making us use in North Texas. Dennis emailed me a new tune. I downloaded it, installed it, and the car is now running ping-free.

I got the XCal2 with the DR VorTech A/W install...I am totally lost on how to use this thingie except for the datalogging...it appears that I have no "tweak-ability" whatsoever...which blows because I want to lower my idle just a touch. Help !

My understanding is that one XCAL2 can be used on ONLY ONE vehicle at a time.
When it loads the Tune into the vehicle, it VIN locks the XCAL2 to that vehicle ONLY. When you return the Tune back to Stock, you can then use that XCAL2 on another vehicle.

Can I data log and/or monitor on any ODBII vehicle with SCT2?
I sold my AutoTap for the SCT2 currently on order.
BTW, why cant SCT have it latch on to two, three VIN#s for a couple bucks more. Future product offering??
Killjoy, sounds like the functionality is somewhat there with the workaround you mentioned, did I read your posting right?

I "THINK" that is how it works. Not sure yet. Mine hasn't arrived yet later, that is just what I have gathered from multiple sources.

That's what I'm saying, I would pay extra but not for another unit to be able to use it on 2 vehicles at the same time but I guess thats the work of the MAN always trying to take our money from our Rauder nest eggs...damn the MAN! :D

I'd put $$$ on what I am about to say:
It is done this way to protect themselves and their investment. Otherwise, there would be a MM.net XCAL2 that would be passed around for everyone to load a tune with. $400 Group investment for 100+ users. By doing it this way, they make their change.

PS - Damn the man.

PS - Damn the man. Now if they changed and allowed up to 3 different vehicles to be used at once I would be all over a Group investment. I guess down the road I'll break down and just buy bully-dog or banks unit for my truck and leave the xcal2 to the Marauder :(
