Wow what a night!!!! and to think I almost didn't go because I was feeling sick. There is nothing better than to spend a night at the track with both your families: my lovely wife Mayra, youngest son Lorenzo and his lovely girlfriend Melody AND my Marauder family who was out there in force to represent and have a great time together.

Thank you Jerry for taking care of the bill and Chuck for the invite and always making me feel VIP all the way. It was a night of many first, Dennis (Hotrauder), Rick (in Miami), Mel (Bootlegger) were there to race their Trilogy monsters for the first time ever, I think the low end torque and a racing heart made it difficult to concentrate but they all ran great times. Marc (shakes26) was the fastest Marauder of the night.

It was a warm evening, when we started the temp readout in my dash read 93 degrees and the air temp. was about 87 degrees , humidity around 60%. It cooled off around 9:00 pm but the humidity shot up and dew was forming on the cars.

I never felt that with those conditions it would be possible for me to improve my personal best, somehow I did; I followed Chuck's advise and did a modest burnout on dry tires. Best 60' times ever, best E.T. I think the heat (and almost head wind) kept the car from personal best trap speed, but overall the car ran solid, smooth and my 3 best runs were hotlapped one right after the other without stopping to cool off.

Thank you to all my friends who were there to share this night with me and making me feel great even though I was sick.:D

Ditto,
Javier has such a way with words! In my own words, I'd like to thank Jerry/Trilogy, Suncoast Motorsports and Tallboy for making this possible. To quote Chuck - "This is the only way to drag race!". Exactly! It was awesome to hear the Trilogys screaming down the 1320' from anywhere around the track but especially on the return lane by the big end. Just awesome! And with only about 60 cars total, it was almost a 'run-as-you-please' event. Several of us set our personal low ET's even in the heat and humidity of late April. Let me also say there were some pretty hot imports out there. A couple of them were astounding!

Great time, great people and huge fun! Thanks again Trilogy, Suncoast and Chuck! :burnout:

Guys, the pleasure was all mine. I'd like to thank each and every Marauder owner who showed up. You guys represented our community with class, style, and speed. My car made 6 passes. The fastest was a 13.01 [twice] and the slowest was a 13.07 ET. I'm quite pleased with the consistency and times, but was more impressed with Smokie and Shakes performances. The crew at the track did a great job [three coats of VHT for 60 cars!!!] and a great time was had by all.

Gordon and I didn't leave the track until after 11. We hooked the track crew up with a couple cases of beer, and talked about the night. We covered our expenses for the evening, and then some. We decided we had the perfect amount of cars there this time. We also decided to have another track night in October. Gordon and I were both quite happy with the crowd and it's attitude. However, we do not want it getting any bigger-we thought this was perfect, and decided everyone who was there this time has an automatic invite for the next one. We're simply going to compile a list of 60 names like we did this time.

Again, my personal thanks to all who attended. You guys are the best.

Shakes removed his 3000 stall torque converter, and replaced it with stock. He's at Sebring today. I think his best run was 12.4, Mike.

Let me just say my contribution was small compared to all of the hard work Chuck, Claude, Mark, Mike, Smokie and the others have done to make that event so great! The Florida crew is truely outstanding in every way!!!!

If I could have done more, I would have!!!

I think it is great to see people at the track after a long absence or going to the track for the very first time. I was always a car guy, but never went to the track until I started hanging out with the Marauder bunch. Now I am a regular and loving it!!!! It's great to see other late bloomers doing the same thing!!! Get out there and enjoy life, it's very short and you need to cram as much fun into it as possible!!!!

Great job running the show Chuck!!!!!! I really appreciate the support and friendship, as always!!!

Sincerely,

Jerry

I'd be scared to see, for I believe there were only 2 cars I could beet, and one of them was a Viper, especially after JMan got through with him.
OK, OK, so the Viper was on a tow truck, but I did offer to spot him a car length or two.

Trilogies Ruled Bradenton.

Does anyone know what happened to the Viper? I heard he broke an axle, but someone else said the engine grenaded. Bad news for him either way, though. The local Chrysler Zone Rep was there racing with us! [He was the guy in the 300C.] :bandit:

The question inquiring minds have Chuck, Did You Beat Him?

Yeah, but not by much. The race was pretty much over each time at the 60' mark. After that, I couldn't pull on him, and he couldn't close on me. We ran within .2 of a second of each other all night. At the last track event, it was his first time out, so I beat him pretty easily. This time he was more knowledgeable and armed with a fresh set of BFG Drag radials, so even though I won all three races, his front bumper was at my door handle each time. I kept looking over, and he was still there! These races were my favorite of the night. Then fact that he's one of the "home boys" makes it even more fun. In fact, tomorrow I'm taking my car to the dealership where he writes service, so he can get my rear tires replaced!:burnout: :burnout:

In other news, I managed to get my 60' times down to the 1.8X mark a couple times!!

And we beat a porche boxter.

Well, my best run of the evening was, go figure the first one under 93F heat. I ran a best of 12.44@ 108.95, with a 1.73 at the 60'.

Not my best ever but considering the temps, and a spirited drive over from Sebring in those temps, not too shabby, but I could do better. Heres a shot of the launch to end all launches... if you squint hard you can almost see light under the front tire...well thats my story and I'm sticking to it!:P

Dave (DJV) sorry to throw you under the bus, after giving Alex that ride down the 1320 I'm afraid he will hound you until you get that blower!

Again, my thanks to Jerry, Gordon at Suncoast Auto group, and Chuck for organizing the whole thing.

Oh, and Race of the night? Chuck versus his buddy Bobby in the Roush Mustang, I haven't seen door to door action like that in a while, that was way cool.

Chuck proving his King of OEM tire launch status not only coached Smokie to some good numbers but pulled off a few nice 60' hisself. Not too shabby on those sausage casings you call rear tires. :) Maybe we should call you the Sausage king of Sarasota, what say you Mr. Froman?

Billy I wish you could get down here and spend some time with us.:burnout: As already mentioned the weather was not really the best for racing (about 87) but I had a night of personal bests before the sun went down.

First 3 runs:
13.03, 60' 2.08, 107 mph
12.89, 60' 1.91, 107 mph
12.80, 60' 1.89, 107 mph

All back to back, hand the wheel to my wife, she runs twice, hand the wheel to my son with girlfriend in the car, 3 more back to back runs. Was starting to lose daylight so I grabbed the wheel an after 6 back to back runs this is what I get.

12.79, 60' 1.85, 107 mph. Personal best E/T, personal best 60' on street tires, as you know I have the base T- Kit with exhaust and a PHP airbox...end of mods. right there.

I still wonder what is left on my current set-up, 7 back to back runs, temps still in the 80's....I am on cloud nine still...:D

First thanks to Jerry Barnes and the Trilogy Motorsports crew, Gordon and the Suncoast Auto Group crew and our own Mercury Marauder crew. Chuck who organized it for us and all the guys and gals who came and supported us. There were several first timers there, me included. I didn't expect much, never raced before and as Smokie said it is hot, no personal best except mine as I would have my only time! I had OEM tires and wheels and junk in the trunk and 3/4 tank of gas. Ran 4 times each better than the previous. Last was 12.83 @ 107.57 with a 1.922 60 foot what ever than means=old and slo. Quit early to mingle. Had a ball can't wait to do it again. Had 2 special notes. I owned Porsche Turbos for 20 years ( 4 of them total ) my third run I killed one...I LOVED IT. Sorry vanity thy name is dennis. PS there were several there that were running 11's by the way. I got a marshmellow! I still love it. Side note. Thanks to Brian(RoyalPita) and Eddie(Blackmobile) and Marc(shakes26) for the calipers. I'm going to love this project.

Also it was great to visit with Rich Long (the drag racing fool who broke most of the Hot Car competition and refused to stop running) and his lovely wife Michelle and to Meet and hang with Bob and Helen(bobbyclobber) down from Halifax,NS. What great people. Bobby brought me a special gift-a blast from the past(1960) an 8 pack of Schooner Beer. It is locked in the safe to be dispensed one at a time every time I have a great event to celebrate. Thanks to everyone there and every one with patience enough to read this dumb post. Dennis:beer: PS we got to run naked!

If you already scanned the slip in to your 'puter, put a copy of it in your desktop, right click on it resize to SMALL.
go to Photos here, click on Upload, click Browse and select from your desktop, name it submit. Once in your gallery, open picture, right click Copy then paste into correct area of Edit Profile, it is the last entry.

That's cool Javier. Who says that Roots blowers create too much heat??? Your experiences at the dragstrip as well as mine and other Trilogy Marauder owners prove that as long as you have an adequate intercooler system such as the one that the Trilogy kit comes with, then heat build-up is NOT an issue.

I mean you ran back to back to back runs in the upper 80's and lower 90's all night, and obviously the car performed flawlessly. That must have been a real blast for both you and your family. I bet your sons are into V8 engines, uh? Even if they weren't before that dragstrip experience, they are now, uh?

WOW

Where do I start? First with the thank you's. In particular , Chuck , I am so appreciative that you managed an invite for Helen and I.The hospitality you guys showed us was off the map.

Even Helen, who is not the biggest car nut in town ,was knocked out by how great everything was and the great bunch of people the Marauder group has attracted.

It was too cool to finally put faces and names together, Claude, Mark , Rick , Marauder boi Javier, Dennis and their better halves, thanks so much for a wonderful evening.

And that was just the start. I/we got to watch Marauders kick butt all over that track.New bests, Rich breaking everything that tried to race him and some amazing S/C and N/A runs.

I will not forget that evening for a long time, you guys just know how to have fun.

A down side ?

Hell yeah, I didn't have my car and even thou Claude offered to run me in the rental, I knew he'd get me out of the hole with those great launches, so I declined.

Thanks again and if I left someone out here , I apologize,

Needless to say but if any of you ever get to my neck of the woods, don't hesitate to look me up,

My boys love V-8 power, we had a great time together, by the way my worse run of the night was the last....at night after a long cool down period (eating:D ) I wanted to test the limits of my tires adhesion...they screamed for just a brief moment, it was enough to hand me my slowest slip with me behind the wheel....13.2, 60' was 2.14. Hot lapping the car was not an issue at all, best run of the night was my 7th. run.

Afterwards the 4 of us drove 60 miles home in extreme cool comfort, cruising just as quiet as a mouse.:D

You become obsessed with bettering your time slip (right Javier) in addition to that :woohoo: feeling. Being old guys like us doesn't matter. We appreciate the:woohoo: more.

Awesome runs Javier:D ! Great to see your hit another personal best:bows: very impressive. I KNOW you want more, it is very addictive my friend. Didn't I read a post on you inquiring about a pulley changes:confused: Humm, the need for speed doesn't go away:eek: . Maybe for a while, it is kinda like the little devil on your shoulder whispering fast mods in your ear :fire: .

Still have the big black pulley that comes with the kit.:D I saw a Cobra at a car show with this cool blue pulley with set screws all around, I asked the owner what that was; he said the hub stays bolted and outer pulley can be swapped in a couple of minutes.

They come in different cool colors and I asked to see if they would fit my car...short answer NO, something about different offset....they sure do look pretty.

And it would be prettier if it was a little bit smaller on your blower;)

Exactly, only because the Big Black pulley rubs my liner a little bit, the little blue one would not rub......extra boost never crossed my mind.:P

OK, I'm home and can actually post!
This night was a real, real , real freakin' blast! THANK YOU JERRY!
My first ever pass was a 14.812 @ what the slip says is 77.33 mph ( speed error?)
My worst was my 2 which was a 17.302 @92.79... I got a bit sideways off the line.

My best was 14.376 @ 97.19 . Except for the sideways launch, I ran mid 14's .
I was fairly happy.
My favorite runs were against the SRT-10 pickup....:banana2: He got a 13.4 after I quit running....

The Viper broke, The Foxbody broke, who else broke running opposite me? I watched Trilogy guys in the 12's heard the noise and smelled the smoke.... AWESOME. What a perfect way for a drag track Virgin to lose it. I felt so special!!!

Thanks to all, and to everyone it was a blast meeting you and look forward to November.
