i get a napa gold and as soon as the oldest one is napping , i get to work. after jacking up car ( after turning off air suspension switch) , i drain oil and head for the filter. seems the good folks at colonial south chevy saw fit to put on an ac/delco filter that was half the size it should have been!!!! apparently the "tech" , for loss of a better term , didnt even have the common decency to lube o-ring on filter. i had to peel it off of filter boss. nice!!! christ on a bike, i learned that one at 17 working in a 2-bit garage after school!!!!! i wont even venture what grade and viscosity they put in..... if i had known , i would have changed it after i got it home first day.... well at least all is right now.. the right filter and 6 qts of the best mobil 1 has to offer.....tranny fliud change at dealer
yesterday and two new rear tires a week ago.........guess i m good to go. gotta watch the inside tread on fronts.

gotta watch the inside tread on fronts.Keith, it would be worth the peace of mind to get a front end alignment using the specs found in Reviews. Don't necessarily trust what the dealer did.

i only had them re-balance as i had a shimmy at 75 that wasnt there at 70 or 80. it is now gone , but changing oil today, i noticed driver side getting thin on last one or two inches of inside .
looks like new rubber and an alignment .

I have another dealer story for you. Here in the Orlando area, there are a bunch of dealers all owned by the same people. They are The Courtesy Group. (Courtesy Ford, Courtesy Buick, Pontiac, Chrysler, Etc.) Well, one day, when I had my Buick, I had a coupon for an Oil & Filter Change, so one day I was passing Courtesy Buick anyway, so I went in, gave them my coupon and told them to do the oil/filter change. I am the type of guy who does not trust Service Departments, and I always look in at what they are doing. I may be outside, but I make sure I can look in. I saw the "Technician" replacing the filter with a white filter. (wait a minute. GM filters are Blue!), I went to the Service Writer and the Service Manager and complained. Their reply was, "Well if you wanted a General Motors Filter, you should have told us, and it would cost you more". (The white filter was a "Formula 7 Filter" which jobbers sell to corner garages for quick oil changes). They would do nothing about it. I phoned Buick and reported that Courtesy was not using Factory Replacements, but that was as far as I could go.
A couple years later, I owned a Sebring Convertible. Was visiting the new location of Courtesy Chrysler in Longwood. Got to talking with the Service Writer. Told him the story about Courtesy Buick. This Service Writer was honest. He said, "We do the same thing". I did thank him for being honest. Now whenever I get anything in the mail from Courtesy Ford, or any of their dealers, I just toss it, as I will not purchase anything, either a car, or service from them.

(The white filter was a "Formula 7 Filter" which jobbers sell to corner garages for quick oil changes). Are you sure it wasn't a "Group 7"?
Group 7 filters are made by Purolator, who also manufacture aftermarket Motorcraft filters. Obviously private label filters are made to the client's spec and are not all the same, but Group 7 is not a bad filter, it's certainly better than FRAM, at least for short OCIs (3,000 miles or less).
