View Full Version : Mrs TR's in the shop (Again)

This moring she had trouble at a stop light and from the description of the problem it sounded like the trans was going south.

I drove down to her job and swapped out MMs, and when I went to try to get it to go in reverse it acted like I was trying to break torqe it. Something gave with a bang and it drove fine after that.

The dealer didn't know where to start from our descriptions so the checked out the trans (Which checked out fine even after pulling the pan.)

Anyone else had a similar problem?

I don't think so. I know it needs to be used to stay adjusted, but we generally don't use it.

I hope it ain't the gears.

One of the brake calipers jammed and then unjammed ?

Pull the cover off the rear end and check the teeth on the gears, bet you find one or two broken ones.

Darn, BJ that doesn't sound good. :( Hope it is nothing serious. But binding and bangs are not good things to hear around these parts.

My #3 MM did that when I first got it. Wouldn't lock into reverse, and fell in with a clunk. Linkage adjustment, it went away. Fingers crossed for you.

After it poped, she has been fine. Dealer checked out the trans and the rear diff and everything checked out fine. Has us stumped. :dunno:

At least she has new trans fluid and gear oil.

My 04' LX Sport was actually just in the shop for the problem u describe, with the reverse, after 2 trips the dealer said that they re-flashed the computer because of some problem with the shift points. Problem fixed! Good luck!
