This morning on the way to work I got my arse handed to me by a Honda Civic, Oh yes, a Honda Civic.

Coming to the light I veered into the lane one over that will merge into his lane in about a 1/4 mile. I was so sure I could have him beat, but he proved me wrong.

The light turns green and I goose to 1/2 throttle, the guy in the Honda floors it in attempt to get ahead of my start. He suceeds! So I mash the go pedal and and car length by car length I was ahead of him before the other side of the intersection. Man that was close!

I look in my mirror and he gets stuck behind someone else, but that didn't stop the mighty Civic. He quickly cut off a minivan to get next to me, but still, was not next to me. He was behind an SUV beside and behind me- But he is gaining! My palms are sweating and my heart is racing, what to do? I stay in my lane and follow the speed limit. The Civic driver pulls yet another radical stunt and cuts off the guy behind me so now the Civic is behind me! We hit a red light and the whole time he is inching up to my bumper. The light turns green and I can see he is serious. I drive slow purposely to leave a small gap in between my rear bumper and the neighboring car's front bumper leaving him with the mindframe "Do I have enough room? Do I?" Well sure enough, he didn't, and he changed lanes. The car he cut off hit their brakes but the Civic was next to me! We're neck and neck! For what? I don't know!

Another red light and this was my turn anyways. You've one this one you Honda Civic driving crazy swerving throttle feathering cut off maniac. Maybe someday I'll be as stupid as you are.

I will have my trunk liner mod done this summer so I can fill up the trunk as a second fuel tank.

97 gallons of fuel! I don't care if I get 12 MPG. I have 97 gallons of fuel!

I guess I read your post wrong--but I will not copy any of it --but I read you saying he beat you --in your own words --...differently, but you say it..--You got suprised --I have been in the same situation---but with a larger car as we have we cannot take crazy chances as they do with their smaller cars darting in-between cars in traffic--they are truely luckly--we on the other hand--smarter and bigger --but smarter--and faster --so much--it pizzs them off------once you let them know you HAVE something as well--they can't believe such a car can do anything.....you did good by letting go--you made your point to him......my thoughts=========Tom

Tom, sarcasm is very difficult to express over the internet. The "off the line race" to the merge was over with, far over with. I don't care to hustle around in traffic, but I guess he had a point to prove.

See, that's the thing about cars, like big people, kind of hard to squeeze through tight spaces. That's the good thing about compacts, they are compact. That is until you get into an accident from tailgating someone, then they become a death trap :D. Don't blame me, I just speak the truth. Well happens. We get tons of these lane switchers down here in South Florida. It gets crazzy. And no one down here signals so you have no idea what to expect!
