I may have a conflict with scheduling. The office has scheduled a Change-of-Command ceremony for 9 June that may impact my plans. :( I'll be working on it.

Mark,

Where are these located? Candy, Air, and Car? Are they in Akron? Staying in Cleveland would be nice.

I have a suggestion, but unfortunately, the full summer schedule starts just a few days after everyone leaves.

My wife and I love the Goodtime III...I don't know if any of you Clevelanders have ever been on it, but it's fantastic, and very affordable.

http://www.goodtimeiii.com/

Because Barry's meet usually has the backyard festivities on Saturday, I guess this would be limited to the people staying until Sunday if anyone wanted to go.

Just adding adeas.

Also,

I'm guessing there will be people coming to the meet who haven't visited here before. There are many things to do downtown, or the local areas.

A Cleveland Trolley tour is pretty nice as well...

Malleys Chocolate has been around forever...I'm not sure which Chocolate tour people wanted to do, but this was is right in Cleveland...

Laugh if you want, but the Metroparks Zoo is a blast...especially the rainforrest.

And right across the street...Crawford Auto and Aviation Museum...

Just adding some ideas.

My choices...

1) Air Museum...Marauders meet the B-26
2) Winery.

I'd like to remind folks that this event is self sponsored. It needs contributions, money up front from everyone attending, to fund food and other necessary things. No money, no party. For the last 3 years, Barry and Jess have undertaken a tremendous financial burden to stage this event, and we have been treated to top drawer food and entertainment. We need to make sure they are not overburdened again. Zack, Bunny and I will be there Thursday to help get things rolling, but we will need a budget to work with.

Mark...What do you think about setting up a pay-pal account so folks can make a donation ahead of time, and budget spending accordingly?

Just my .02C...

Mark...What do you think about setting up a pay-pal account so folks can make a donation ahead of time, and budget spending accordingly?

Just my .02C...I set up a paypal acct. to use for MVII but we didn't need it. We can use that if Bear & Jes haven't set one up yet. Not a problem and we're the first to arrive. I can send Bear and Jes an advance for anything they get before we arrive. Any admissions would be paid at that time and not in advance so we wouldn't collect for that. What we do need the money for is Saturday's food orgy so an appropriate menu can be planned.

We are currently not offering "Winery" tours due to space limitations in our wine production area. If you really want to see it and cry on our shoulder we can probably work something out but we kinda have to charge a bit to pull a qualified staff member to do it right. If you have a large group or motor coach it is easier to work out. We plan on developing set times in the future and offering tours for the general public.

Just another option, 20 bucks, about 13 miles from the host hotel. Looks like an interesting thing and very energy efficient for the MM's :) ( Looks like some shopping may be involved for those who would be interested in that kind of entertainment) Train would arrive back in time for us to grab dinner somewhere before heading elsewhere!!

I'm in for whatever on Friday and Saturday. Maybe even Thursday afternoon too. (have to work Thursday night!) Have been to Harry London Chocolate, that takes about an hour or so, not very long. Will respond later as to how many daughters will be joining me depending on what we are doing. MercMan mentioned the Cuyahoga Valley scenic railway; that is a relaxing ride, did it with my girls about 10 years ago. Not far from Barry's. Another chance for us to visit together. Let me know if there's anything that I can do to help.

OK you party animals:D Ive done the research. The candy factory as a starting point, the air museum is only a 7 minute drive from here, and the one winery I found is only a 14 minute drive from there. Candy factory tour is 45 minutes, and tours start at the top of the hour, between 10am and 3pm. Figure an hour and a half there including spending money on chocolate. The air museum is opened 9am-4pm. No idea how long the guided tour takes.

How about this:

8:15 - depart hotel
9:00 - arrive at air museum
12:00 - depart air museum and head to chocolate factory or winery
1:00 - tour of chocolate factory or winery
2:00 - lunch nearby or heading West in the direction of the track
5:00 - arrive at the track

I like the idea of eating lunch a little later so we're not too hungry at the track. We can even stop at Whitey's on the way back to the hotel!

Well the winery deal looks out do to factors beyond my control,So by the time the candy tour and shopping is over.It will probably be about 1:30 Im guessing. So the place to eat is right around the corner.I will set it up for 2:00 its called the 365fth Fighter group restaurant. It is on the south side of the airport.:D :D :D This will leave plenty of time to get to the race track...

4919 Mt Pleasant Rd, Canton 44720 • 330-494-3500

Owners Bob and Tina Scofield see to it that each customer that dines in their establishment enjoys a truly unique experience. With views of the Akron/Canton Airport runways, paraphernalia reminiscent of World War II and headphones allowing diners to listen to the airport control tower, a meal at the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant is a must. The extensive menu offers a variety of choices and specials throughout the week. Depending on the night, you could feast on plate after plate of crab legs and prime rib during the "all you can eat" evenings. Fresh seafood and children's menus are also available.
