Just wondering if anyone has ran these tires and how you liked them...I am looking at getting 255/55/18s...I am looking at getting a tire with better tread life and these are rated at 460...I do not race my car any fashion so I am not looking for a super sticky soft-fast wearing tread tire...my tires do not last long because I live in the mountains and we do not have anything but twisty roads and it takes it's toll on tread life...we usually get about half life compared to flat landers with same equipment...thanks ahead of time for your support...willie

Best bet is to check around truck boards and see what they have to say IMHO...

I don't know about that tire but the KDW2 looks like a mountain tire and isn't a sticky tire at all. In fact it looks like something that belongs on an off-road vehicle and is quite durable.

I never thought of the KDW2 as an off-road tire...

Good luck in your search Willie. If you do purchase them please provide some pictures and insight as to how they perform.

I'm running an SUV tire in the rear. A nitto (see sig). I am very happy with the sidewall stiffness and traction. FWIW.

I have used Falken brand on Hondas. They wear well and gave me no trouble. In comparing, I notice most Falkens start with a couple 32's more tread than most tires of comparable size and application.

Please understand that for every person who shares the opinion below, there are several who would say the KDW2 is a durable tire that is also much better in all conditions than the stock KDWS. StickiER, even.

The consensus here is that the KDW2 is simply a better tire than OEM.

I've never used them. Keep in mind these are H rated tires.

IMO 255/55-18 up front is too big. But I think you brought this up before and wanted that look or were ok with it.

Just keep in mind you only save about $100 for a set of these as opposed to say, KDW2's which have exhibited good treadlife and good traction and lets you keep the "rake" by going with a tire upfront that is close to OEM diameter.

The question then becomes if it's worth the $100.

If you wanted to save the $100 and go with tires that more match OEM sizes all the way around and are high-speed rated, you may want to give the Nexen's a try...

I never thought of the KDW2 as an off-road tire... Yah...News to me too.

Willie...In your situation it seems that premature tire wear is the norm of your life. If this is the case, buy by price.

I am looking at price but not he over riding factor...I hate having to buy new tires every 12,000 to 15,000 miles...it is just iratating to no end...the Falkens have a 460 tread wear rating and that is the best I have found on about any tire that will fit our MMs...also the OEM tires cup...vibrate at 65 to 75 mph in the front regardless of which size or how old they are...just asking for general info if Falken makes a good tire...never ran them myself...thanks for the imput...willie

Do they make a front size tire with comparable tread pattern?

I don't think so...If they do I can not find it...would like to get a 245/45 or 255/50 but they do not have them in this tire...willie

Willie,

You might want to give Kumho a look. I will be looking into these once I run the backs bare.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/3/3/1/3/ku_ecsta_spt_ci2_l.jpg

I ran set of these on my T-Bird, before she passed and they did better than the higher priced Michilin(spelling) Pilot Sports. Money for tires ain't everything. 245/50 18s run $123 and they are in stock.

I run the toyo proxes suv 255-50-18 in the rear and Falken azenas?? 245 45 18 front.
I ran Kumho ectsa's on the stang and they were 100% better then the bfg's for noise and traction. The tread seemed to disappear at the same rate in the rear :D , but they wore evenly and did not come out of shape or get as noisy as the BFG's. SO even though they wore about the same I could run the tire longer.

Take a look at the Proxes. http://toyo.com/tires/tire_specsheet.cfm?id=6

They are v-rated and a little noisy but they seem to wear very well and good traction. I have about 30 1/4 mile passes, 100+ miles of total abuse at Sebring and 5000+ road miles and they still look new. I can launch them at 2000 with the stall and get a 2.006 60'.
Besides, the chart says you can fit a 285-50-18 on a stock rim. That is about 1/2" taller then the stock rear, so it will raise the rear end 1/4 ", puta an extra 1.5" of rubber on the ground on each wheel and fill that wheel well nicely. :D
