Ok, so only weeks after being rearended...today i need a new front bumper. Was traveling down 820 and about to get on 20. There was an older pickup with an old wooden trailer hauling some stuff that wasnt held down and driving at 50 mph in the right lane. Instead of passing the guy quickly everyone was slowing down. As i approched the taurus infront of me slowed up and a big white block of something came off the trailer and nailed the right front of my car, next thing i know i am watching my right front fog light in my rearview mirror. I pulled the truck over and he said he saw what happend. I showed him the damage and he said he would be right back and he was going to grab his insurance card. He got in the truck and went through the grass and took off. As soon as he started his engine i called the police and gave them his plate #, they told me to stop following him and to return to fort worth city limits. Damage is pretty bad, missing paint, nice big scrapes and the fog light and wires for it are gone.
My quesiton is should i wait for the police to find this guy before i take this to my insurance company(with police report) or just get it fixed right away?

Sorry about your bad luck! Only good thing is it sounds like no one was hurt. If it was me I'd be on the phone to my insurance company asap. Your policy probably includes something that resembles a duty to notify them of a claim situation in a timely manner even if the other guys insurance should pay for it. 24 hours would seem timely but days later might not be. Your insurance company may be your only "Friend" in this incident. Your Leo's will try to help but your truck guy bolted because he probably at best does not have the means to pay, the proper insurance or maybe worse doesn't not want to become involved with the Law. The truck guy might also believe it may be hard to prove that whatever it was 1) came off his trailer and/or 2) belonged to him. Hope things work out ok. It's always a pita when this kinda thing happens!

Bad luck, your car was damaged.
Good luck, that you were not injured.

Glad you are OK.
Call your Insurance Co. as soon as you can. Get it on record, as I have a bad feeling the truck driver doesn't have insurance. Or worse.
Keep us posted, OK?
Mike.

Bastages ..... Probably no insurance and driving on a suspended license, too !!!!
Sorry to hear about your damage. :bigcry: If you got the license plate number, I'd report it as a "hit-and-run", failure to restrain load .... then notify my insurance to start the fix process, and let the insurance folks track down the culprit.
On the positive side --- maybe this is an opportunity to get that badgeless grill you have always wanted. ;)

For some odd reason my insurance place is plosed today. I did report it as a hit and run and the repairs will be done at school (Lincoln Tech.). So im hopefully going to have a little extra cash so i can get the 4.10's and gridle that are posted in the classifieds. And i have a new rear bumper on the way and the old one is going to have some modifications done to it soon :) Ill post images of that when im done.

No. Call your insurance Co. and let them start fixing your car. Since no one was hurt, the police will take their time and track down the truck and man. If they find him, you will have to go to court (I hope that you took pic's of the damage). He will get a slight fine at most. :(
In the meantime, you could have your Marauder back in action and enjoying her again.:burnout:

Marc, I know where you are coming from but remember what you are dealing with in this type of situation. Anyone and everyone in Fl. is packing and a guy who would do what happened here is not socially responsible. Your wife and baby would not consider you dead a reasonable swap for retribution for some damage to front end of the Marauder. Sweetpea needs you, my friend.
Gre8one7, good luck. Follow the advise. Go to your insurance company, immediately. It is time you got a break, buddy. Dennis
