I don’t know if anybody posted this yet. But I found this web-site, http://www.sspmustang.org/gallery6.htm (http://www.sspmustang.org/gallery6.htm), if you scroll down they have a section for the F.H.P Marauders.

The guy mentioned how the "chromed rims" set the car off.

I wouldn't have a set of cheap a$$ chromed rims on my Marauder. Nothing but the best (clearcoated polished forged aluminum) for my Quicksilver.

Otherwise, a nice set of photos. (DUH. It's pictures of Marauders.)

Maybe this has been answered before - or maybe I already know but forgot. Why do the FHP issue Marauders have the SVT Cobra logo on the lower fender? Supercharged?? I feel like a moron for asking that.

It looks like only one, I guess they like em?

Plus I hear they are worth at least 10-15 hp.

I would prefer Chrome over what we have stock. The shine is worth the extra maintience to me...

They have several black ones. I see them pretty frequently.

Yep, that's me :). The majority of units I have seen are DTR and SB, including the ones in Troop C, E and G, but there are a few black ones deployed.

Here's a nice shot of unit 2290 I took at the Heroes Luncheon in Tampa last week, the car is in Pinellas and only has about 23K on it at this point. The DTR in Hillsborough is offline again, this time he took a hit to the front end..that car has had a tough time of it so far!

And I'm sure the Troopers driving these will be disappointed to hear their wheels don't measure up..

I was thinking that is how they knew not to pull each other over???!!! Or maybe ( I thought I read some where ) that those are the custom tuned cars by one of our vendors???!!!

I would prefer Chrome over what we have stock. The shine is worth the extra maintience to me...It's not about extra maintenance. As a matter of fact chromed rims require less TLC. The problem with chrome plating is electrochemical.

Chrome plating works fine as long as as you can keep the thing that's chrome plated shielded from ultraviolet radiation. High energy photons in the UV band break the electrochemical bonds between the chromium atoms and whatever metal they're plated to. This is why all chrome plating that's exposed to sunlight deteriorates over time. Eventually a small crack opens up an avenue for water molecules to invade and the corrosion process starts on the substrate metal, in our case aluminum.

Modern clearcoats don't suffer from UV radiation. So, over time, they won't crack, and the aluminum surface will never see it's first H2O molecule. As a matter of fact the clearcoat formulas of today actually make one big molecule out of itself and the whole surface of whatever it's applied to, and as I said it is impervious to the high energy UV photons, because it's clear. The UV radiation just passes through, bounces off the aluminum, and passes back through doing no damage to the electrochemical bonds.

One other thing I like about polished forged aluminum. It's a whiter color, more true to what it's reflecting. Chromium tints things blue. It's therefore darker.

Those are the two reasons I like our rims as they are.
