i went to the dragstrip this weekend to test out my 4.10 and programmer install and have already noticed a growl or roar when in low or 1st gear and after a few passes i went back up and power braked car to heat up tires and let off brake still accel and went up closer to line quick and stoped with card dead still there was a bearing type of noise similar to the noise i normally hear in low gear stoping but car was stoped and noise was still going and it slowed down and stop making noise with in 6 or 7 seconds.it only done it when i power brake car and that was the first time it had ever did that i have pwr brke car before. i havent tried it since this weekend. anyone have a idea of what problem might be.i work at a gm dealer and my trans tech said the roaring in low gear might be a planitary gear??? but didnt see how it would keep making noise with car stopped. any info on what it sounds like is helpful.i wish it would end up being in convertor because i would like to replace with a stall any way but thats not my luck.thanks guys for the help:help:

its not a planet...if it was it would only make noise whn moving...and in 3rd gear noise would go away.......

A few years back, when I first heard this sound (if it's the same sound, kinda like something winding down) I posted about it here and was told it was the front pump on the tranny winding down. I don't hear it everytime I'm at the track, just once in a while, never had any problems from it. But, since then I don't make it a point to shut down the burn out, rather I ease out of it, then let the car idle forward for staging.

thanks everyone that makes me feel better i thought i was fixing to be pulling out a tranny. i didnt mention that my stock time was 10.60 in the eight mile with like a 2.5 60 foot time and with just 4.10 gears and lidio tune program i went a best of 9.414 at 77mph with a 2.199 60 foot time. :banana2:
