I know that many times in the past here members have helped other members with parts they no longer need, after they upgrade that part on their car.
I propose that we set up some kind of an exchange program where if a mod needs to be done to a part (like powdercoating) your car doesn't have to be down while the work is done.
As an example, Hotrauder kindly sent me his old valve covers so I could powdercoat them. I realized that this project was "down the road" due to other projects, so I sent them to Rich Long. He is going to do a bunch of stuff at once, and will send me back his VCs once he's done. Once I'm done there will be mine available to another member.
I'm thinking mainly of powder coat items. like valve covers, upper intake, alternator bracket, radiator tube, that kind of stuff.
Comments?
There's a few

Generaly speaking all one really has to do is ask and members most of the time will step up and help. But setting up a exchange program of some kind sounds like a nice idea.

I am doing brake calipers (powder coated ala Sergnt Mac) thanks to front calipers passed from Shakes_26 to Roylpita to me and rears passed from SergntMac to me. He even paid the freight. Calipers go next to Fastblackmerc and from there who knows. This is a tried and true program here and it works well. We swap ideas, advise and parts with incredible generosity. Gratitude to all. Dennis:D

Rich, you treat those valve covers with respect. They have my finger prints all over them. Hi to Michelle.

I could create a Parts Exchange section in Classifieds. Then create a listing for each part and who gets what next, and so on.

I routinely keep my take-off parts, and share them with anyone asking. I have also benefitted from this myself, folks here have been very generous to me in this area.

It's my dad's fault, he raised me to never throw out stuff that still has some life in it. Just today, I dropped off a mini-tower case, motherboard and AMD "Thunderbird" 900 mhz chip at a recycle center that just opened. Sucker sat in my garage for a year 'cause I couldn't let it become junk.

Just keep the "want-need-have" lines open, it all works out.

I figured it out:PGood...because I didn't. Somehow new files need to be created to add a new template for Exchange, and I'm not seeing the options. Carry on!

Step 1 of 3
Choose the type of ad you want to place: Wanted

Step 2 of 3
Choose the category you wish to place your ad: Parts Exchange:

Do you get to step 2?
