Hi,

I have a stock radio with the stock speakers in my 04 MM. I'm noticing that there's somewhat of a rattle when the bass is turned fully up and I'm playing a song that has a lot of bass in it at about 1/2 the volume level before max. The best way I can explain it is that it sounds a little like there are tiny pebbles on the speakers (if that makes any sense!)

At any rate, the radio sounds ok otherwise. Anyone else having the same problem? Car is still under warranty. Any recommendations on how to approach the dealership with this one?

Thanks

Thanksyou have a 6.5 inch subwoofer under your back window package tray that has a peice of foam sitting on top of it that muffles sound and rattles that needs to be removed. you can see amp and sub-box under package tray inside trunk.. you need to remove back seat to get under package tray to remove foam... hope this helps. I removed it all and went with a JL audio 6.5 subwoofer sound was a little better so i took back 6.5 sub and went with JL auido 10 inch sub/ with custom box firing into back seat.. sound 500% better........

I had the same problem! Here is what I did. Take out the rear seat and then take out the rear felted deck. Remove that peice of foam in the sub. Then buy some regular foam 1/2" to 1" thick. My cardboard deck rattled. Cut the foam for the entire rear deck and make cut outs for the speakers and child seat hooks. Use a spray adhesive and mount foam to underside of cardboard deck. Reinstall when to your liking. It takes a little effort to fudge it back in BUT IT will stay tight and not rattle. Now I can turn the bass all the way up and the only niose is if that cheep ford sub distorts. Unless you upgrade the sub too, its at least better than the factorys sloppy installation of that rear deck. Hope this helps you, it did for my, I am happier untill I get new spekers.:D
