i posted another thread about my trans noise when doing a burnout then coming to a stop sounded like something in trans still spinning fast and slowing down not a rough noise but a smooth winding down noise. but i just noticed for the first time i went to rev eng. up in park to let someone hear the exhaust since i had work done and it made the same noise in park that it did in first gear or /drive after doing the burn out. i thought i would share that added info and see if any one else has the same noise and what it might be??????????????:help: thanks for the help guys!!!
I noticed the sound early on, right after I bought the car.
I've heard similar sounds before from overrunning A/C compressors and alternator clutches, but I think it is related to the oil pump in the transmission...
I don't think a dynamic component (torque converter/planet gear) would make that freewheeling sound, but who knows?
Hey, who does know???

Try this Thread Help identify this sound from my rear end - MercuryMarauder.net Forums (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21483&highlight=whine)
It has a MP3 clip, does this sound like what your problem?
If it does, then its likely your alternator clutch pulley
