Ok, I'm waiting for #132 to arrive ( waiting for the Boost a pump).
I have since gotten a bad tank of "premium" HAH my eye!! Pinged and ponged under partial throttle. So I decided to make sure I don't wuss out ( read cheap) and skip this before hand.
http://www.snowperformance.net/

I have been emailing Matt Snow ( excellent response btw) and he directed me to the MAF stage 2 kit.
I'll install it right along with the Trilogy and drive it "out of the box" for a bit. Then I'll see about custom tuning. Perhaps a cruise to Michigan would be in order at that point.

I'm pretty sure this is the same kit that snowbird has on his setup, too.

Very interested in how this works out.

May consider it for a little added insurance.

Is he the only guy in town or is he the best guy in town?
I am starting to think about it more and more but haven't done any research.
I live in 91 octane land and I have been buying 107 exclusively so my motivation is clear. has anyone heard of any bad things with these kits (corrosion of the bottom end parts etc.)?

I went there because others here have and are using it. Then Matt Snow answered my questions quickly and efficently.
The website says no worries and in the thread on Lidio's forum he said he had no concerns about corrosion with 100% meth... I'm cool.
Besides for just under 400.00 it's cheap insurance.
My plan is to tune for 93 and use this as a safety measure.

Rich, that is the EXACT SAME THING I a wanting to do. Just a little extra insurance, as I really cannot afford a new bottom end quite yet. Perhaps one day, but till well after the baby comes!

Rich,

Congrats and welcome in the methanol sub group !! It look like we've got the same kit (vacuum/boost activated). I do believe it"s an extra measure of safety and cooling onboost but would be more cautious about protection from a bad tank offboost. I'm starting to get paranoid and making incremental checks with each fillup.

I'm still learning about how efective it is: Now that it is starting to get a bit warmer where i live, i notice the IAT getting 20-30 degree cooler with modest boost cycle. Just the opposite as of logic. Pretty interesting. This winter, it was so cold that i didn't notice that phenomenon happening.

Anyway, a good move IMO.

I have a stage 2 kit (MAF activated) but don't have it all hooked up yet. About 90% done. I'd like to compare notes on mounting, etc.

I got a windshield washer reservoir from a CV/GM with the level warning switch, connected the level switch as a safety measure. Mounted the pump inside driver side front fenderwell on a bracket which is mounted to the radiator support panel bolts. Replaced all the red hoses that came with the kit with black ones, more stealthy. Relays for controlling everything are mounted in a OEM relay housing (from '89-'98 CV) at the back of the vacuum reservoir. Looks like a factory setup. I'll take pics next weekend and post.

Thats a great addition to the Trilogy blower.

The Eatons, my cobra friends call em heatons. Start to loose their punch after around 15 psi because they get so hot and really loose their effeciency. They're sporting Meth kits and pick up around 75-80hp! I have Methanol injection on my stang and LOVE IT.

Good luck with everything! Meth rules

Fordnut,

Your setup look great. For stealthness, i protected the hoses with the back wiring "snakes" we use for the wiring. I had put the battery in the trunk and used the battery rack and space space as a mount for the controller, the kit reservoir and pump. I use the Snow option reservoir with the low level Led wiring and added a mechanical 200 PSI oil pressure gauge as another "whats up in there" device.

This is interesting, I guess I was always under the impression these kits were more on the order of $1000-1500 depending on what you got.

This sentence has really piqued my interest.

300 bucks ain't much.

They have an NA kit. I get what you guys are looking for with your blowers, but what about with NA? The site claims 10-15HP. That would be worth the 300 bucks. I am assuming one would have to tune for the new lower intake air temps to take advantage with the timing.

Any experience or opinions?

If you are just looking for insurance under boost you don't have to run meth. You can run water or alcohol. Some folks run Windshield washer fluid. :D
There is some good info here.
