I own a 2005 Crown Vic Sport, an MM wannabe. Unlike the MM, it does not have a tach and I wish to install one. Can anyone tell me which lead on the PCM to connect the tach up to? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

You will need a tach' adapter; example - Ford Racing Performance Parts part # M-17361-A200 (http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 5454), AutoMeter part # 9117 (http://hp.autometer.com/products/accessories/tach_adapter_mag_converter/tach_adapter_mag_converter.htm l), etc..
You will need into tap the CKP ( Crankshaft Position Sensor ) for the signal, not the PCM.

Part of the reason I love this site is how fast everyone jumps all over eachother to be the first to answer someone's question. Where else do you get service like that and not have to pay for it?

For tachometer use any wire at any fuel injector or coil that is NOT red or white/red

You're right, the '06 comes with a tach, but the instrument panel does not look at nice to me as on an '05. So I've purchased a digital tach for my '05 CV Sport and a single guage pod to mount it on the windshield post just above and to the left of the instrument panel...

Won't connecting to just one of the 8 COP's cause the tach to read only 1/8 the actual RPM?

After viewing all of the responses to my original inquiry, I purchased the Ford Racing tach adapter at a Ford Motorsports dealer and an aftermarket digitial tach I like on Ebay...Thanks for the correct advice...

NO, you will set the tach for 8 cylinder and it will see each pulse as one revolution
