Hey guys and gals,

Wanted to let you know about an additional appearance problem i found in my MM. When cleaning the wheels over the weekend, I noticed areas on the chrome edges of the rims where the chrome was damaged and chipping off, as if the vehicle had run over a curb. Not dented but DEEP abrasions which cut through the chrome. This was on three of the four wheels on my car.

Since I only have 480 miles on my car i went straight to the dealership, to complain and seek replacements. Service managers reaction was to get out his digital camera and take pictures of each wheel to send to Detroit. He stated that all of the dealerships are required under "the program" to submit warranty pictures to Ford for approval.

I was already having my headlight lense replaced as it was fogged blue when I got it. 45minutes later they had changed the lense and kept my Sylvania Silverstar bulb. Service advisor told me that they could not reinstall my Silverstar as it would void my warranty, and that they were illegal anyway.

To make a long story short Silverstar is back in and whoever is sitting in Detroit looking at the pictures that are being sent via internet decided to replace my wheels.

Just wanted to give you all the 411 on what happened with me and to alert you to this possible wheel problem. If anyone else has run into this, I would like to hear from you.

Have a great day.
Mike

I have one wheel that has 8 to 12 spots that clearcoat has come off, first a bubble came up and then it burst. I haven't been to dealer yet but will shortly. I have checked other wheels and no problems at current time, have 9500 miles(10 months).

The wheels aren't chromed, but they are clear coated. the clear coat must have been sc***** when they put the tires on

I have had to have one of my wheels replaced for clearcoat flaking at the edges. it's in another thread somewhere.

I have that on my driver's front wheel. I thought I might have hit a curb or something at a drive-through. I don't think my dealership is going to believe it was caused by anything other than owner's "wear and tear".
