I'm at a point to have a dealer fix a constant hanging drip of tranny fluid at drive shaft seal. The fluid is at 35K and I want to get it flushed. I'm going to assume if they fix the leak the flush or drain/refill will be performed, will it?

I was also going to inquire if the dealer will install 4.10's for me and this will allow them to verify the axle wear (June '02 300A). Should I have a dealer do it and do they back their work?

Also, the tail shaft seal and pinion seals have been replaced for leaks in the past along with this current tranny seal leak. This brings up a worry of a "whipping" drive shaft if I go to 4.10's because of these leaks I've already had. Should I be worried? What would be covered if dealer does 4.10 install and the whip occurs?

Did your dealer examine the micro-finish of the trans yoke after replacing the seal? I have seem many cases where a very very small imperfection of this finish will wear a seal very quickly inducing a leak.

A whipping driveshaft should not be one of your worries.

A whipping driveshaft should not be one of your worries.Mike, a "whipping" D/S may very well become a worry if he installs 4.10s...do a search for "driveline critical speed"...there are a number of posts on this subject, but the one I'm especially referencing is here. pantheroc, to answer your other questions, the dealer will probably not routinely do a complete flush just for the extension housing seal repair, but I agree that at 35k you should have it done regardless.

As far as having them do the 4.10s, that's usually dependent on the dealer...if they'll do it, they at least should have all the right parts and tools, although probably cost the most. My dealer flat out refused to do the job at all, but the car was still under warranty at that time, so I just found another shop.(that's been great to me).

My car developed leaks at the tranny tailshaft when I went to 4.10's but didn't leak before. Changed to the MMX driveshaft and that fixed it.
