View Full Version : A tuning question

In my never ending search for answers without having to do a lot of reading (weak eyes) I wonder if folks who have superchargers (turbos' applicable too) who operate at less than WOT have their ECU's tuned for the increased airflow? Or, does the ECU compensate for this? If not, does a 3 bar or other high performance MAF serve to correct the A/F ratio when driving at part throttle but still have some boost?

Thanks,

Pat

Alot more to it then that. You must also adjust the timing curve at all loads. It's a balance between good economy and performance. Depending on what type of blower and how the boost comes on is how you taylor the timing and fuel curve too. The range of the maf is important too. A maf that is calibrated to the injectors or the pcm programed to match the injectors and the maf is key. At that point the car should be tuned with the maf transfer functions to fine tune the fuel curve. hope I answered your questions.

Thanks Rick,

For your informative reply.

If it were not for you doesn't look like anyone would have responded.

I think that may indicate that most MM owners, like me, are not too sure of just what tuning consists of. Many times we just buy the flasher, watch the blinking lights, take off like a "bat outta hell" and think we are somehow informed.

But that's why we do business with you, a professional tuner (ref your ad). It's your bread and butter to know how to tune performance cars at WOT and part throttle, NA and boosted. Not a job for the untrained and unskilled I'm sure.

Wish you were closer to my locale but Anderson, SC is a long way from Bossier City, La.

Thanks again, This helps me in determining what needs to be done when I get boosted later this year. I'm headed to Dallas tomorrow to see if there's someone there that can do this type of tuning, it's the North Texas Marauders monthly meeting, they should know.

What????

My god man, you got a perfectly good and correct answer in less than 20 minutes. :mad2:
All of us knew the answer; but it only took one person to respond, and all other answers would have been redundant.
What do you want for cat's sake?
Right Charlie?

I am not sure who had the duty response desk yesterday, probably out for a donut. Lots of that going on lately. We will do better in the future, perhaps. Dennis:rolleyes:
