I was fortunate enough to be on I-81 near Wytheville, VA yesterday when a convoy of GM test vehicles blazed by me (I was in the beater P71, not the Marauder :o ). Later I learned they were part of the Hot Rod Power Tour 2006 and did an overnight stay in Salem after a gathering at the Salem Civic Center. I missed them at the show last night, but while in Buena Vista, VA around noon today another steady stream of the approximately 1600 Power Tour vehicles came through town. Buena Vista was on the scenic route for the tour. Fortunately I had my camera with me today, attached are a few shots of some of the rides that originated in FL and were heading up to PA or NJ- I forgot which.

A few more...
I'm particularly fond of the black and red Galaxies. My first set of wheels was almost identical to the red one, but it was a hardtop.

I was out on I-81 between Chambersburg, Pa. and Martinsburg, W.VA. today and there was a constant parade of gorgeous Muscle Cars heading northbound on I-81.
Some really sweet cars cruising the interstate!! Many had the white "HotRod POWERTOUR 2006" sticker on their glass.

I even saw an altered wheelbase AFX, black Plymouth Savoy (?)

Got any idea of the route that they are taking (north or south??). What's the itinerary?? I'd love to see this parade. BTW -- I even know where Buena Vista is ... and have been to the BV General Store there. :D
P.S. Great Pics !!!

The end of the tour will be Englishtown NJ. I'm going to try to get a good look at all these classics.

I don't know the specific route, but I found the info below on the Hot Rod website. Today the majority of them went from Roanoke to Lynchburg via Rt 460, then over the mountain on Rt 501. Some continued north on Rt 11 from Buena Vista/Lexington, others braved I-81.
BV is a neat little town, but that General Store is about all that's there!

I did the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2003 & 2004 in my 2003 MM. It's a great time, I highly recommend it. In fact, it would make agreat MV xx sometime.

I was there from Harrisburg to Englishtown and I highly recommend it! Nice cruise, awesome car shows at each stop. Saw 2 Marauders there; a '64 pink and an '04 DTR, that was driven by Ron (RB427) from this site.

the other Ron :coolman:
