:( Well due to employment considerations (being phased out), I have accepted a position in Rochester, NY. My Marauder has never been any further north than Oklahoma! I don't know how she and I will do in a frosty environment. But I guess we'll find out. We leave here the end of June, with first day on the new job the day after the 4th. Maybe some of our New York brethern can enlighten me on how hard it is to get tinted windows through state inspection. Right now I have 38% on fronts, 17% on the backs and rear window. Also, have a 6 inch band across the front. I'll miss being a Texan, I guess my heart will alway be here.

Having just been tranferred from Michigan to Texas, here's two words you should get acquainted with ASAP.
SNOW TIRES.
The KDWS's, in my not so humble opinion, S@$K in snow (and I put my MM through 3 Michigan winters).
Good luck with the move!

A good coat of wax is in order, because rocksalt will eat you alive. I hope you can get garage space as well.

I was born in central N.Y. state and I hate to say it, but:

The weather in Rochester sucks....lots of cloudy days and LOTS of snow!
NY state uses rock salt like Barry Bonds uses Steroids.
Definitely should look into a cheap beater for winter driving.

Well Lord you will be a Texan in upstateNY. We Mainiacs spent 36 years in upstate NY that didn't hurt us at all. We are glad to be away in the winter but miss the summers. Good luck there. Dennis

I was born and raised in Rochester. As a matter of fact, although I presently live in Florida, I was just in Rochester last week, as I just returned from a trip to France and flew in from Paris, via Toronto, to Rochester. It was cold last week (mid 60's), but the week before, the temps were in the mid 90's.
If you don't like the weather, just wait a while, as it will change.

Now, my advice. Park the Marauder from Mid November to Mid/Late March.
Get yourself a "Winter Beater". Everyone has heard about the snow that falls on Buffalo, but Rochester beats Buffalo year after year. The really bad thing is all the salt they put on the roads will just eat the metal on your Marauder.
The first snows normally fall sometime between November 3rd and 11th, and it just goes downhill from there. I don't mean to scare you because they sometimes get great days in January and February, but that dam snow keeps falling as late as early May, but normally ends by late March. (March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb!)

When in Rochester, I have used Vision Ford on West Ridge Road for service on both my Marauder and Continental. Service Writer was John Russo. Pleased with them. My Sister loves to use Webster Ford, Ridge Road in Webster. Many other dealers, but these two seem to be good.

Good luck with the new job.

Yep, what Joe said!!
I don't drive mine in the winter, know some that do.
Snow, salt, freezing rain, salt, oh, did I mention the SALT!!??
Not nice on our cars.:shake:

As far as the tint, basically anything darker than what came on it is illegal.
HOWEVER, if you behave in traffic, avoid roadblocks, etc., you should be ok.
Mine has limo tint on the back windows, front are tinted lighter, only one ticket in almost 4 years of ownership[$35].
Shout out when you get here, if I still have mine, we'll hook up, swap tall tales, hit the track, grab a frosty beverage!:)

I just moved to Colorado and have the same concerns, where the heck do I get snow tires?

 Thanks all for the kind words. We were fortunate enough to find a really nice townhouse (no snow shovelling, grasscutting, etc.) with a two car garage. I will take the group's advice and get a "winter beater", so the Marauder won't have to endure the salt they use in the Northeast. Bob, thanks for the tip on where to get the MM serviced. I will check out that
service writer and tell him you sent me.

Thanks all..

Forgot to ask.

1. What Town or Road will you be living in? I used to live in Town of Gates, but now, whenever I stay for any length of time, I live in Penfield.

2. Where is your new job? What road?

Just wondering. As for those who say they would never go to "Snow Country", I say that you have to go where the money is, in order to feed your family. I did it. Made good money. Much more than I would ever make elsewhere. Only after I retired did I leave for Florida. (Be careful what you wish for as you may get your wish - I always wanted to live in Florida, and I now HATE IT, and want to move out to New Mexico, but my wife [the boss] loves it here, so I stay).

I hear that... Fortunately, I'm in a profession that my technology skill specifically is always in demand, so I get to name my price and am able to decide where I care to live...

Yeap I hear that a lot, everyday as a matter of fact...wherever it is they are from they tell me is a 1000 times better than Florida.....and yet they remain here.
