Not sure whats going on. My car started making a funny noise yesterday, next thing I know its running hot. In a panic I was out and ran by pep boys, thinking a quick thermostat change would fix it. $33 later, they said I have a bad head gasket. I find that hard to believe and I sure hope its not. Have others has this problem. I searched and found a few threads on fixes and I spoke with Dennis. I"ll try airing out the system tomorrow. Any insight anyone can offer would be appreciated. Oh yeah and my check engine light came on after Pep boys took a look. Hmmmm
Worst case, its the heads, does anyone have any good mechanics. I'm in the southern suburbs of Chicago.

Also, check the exhaust for any unusual smoke, or, steam coming from the exhaust. If a head gasket has given way, the fluids will be mixing.

If it turns out you need a major repair, we have a long-time friend who is a master mechanic at Woodfield Ford in Schaumburg. His name is Dean Moore. He's been there since 1974! Also, my selling dealer is Elmhurst Lincoln-Mercury (contact is Andy). I've had them do all the work on my 2004 Marauder since it was new and as a result, I have complete confidence in the quality of their work. I'm going to let them install my 4.10:1 gears and tune next month.

The folks at Napleton L/M in Blue Island have been very good with all 3 of my Marauders, did a lot of the mods without any warranty BS.

If you visit Napleton, see Mike, the service manager and mention my name. They arre a small dealership, but their three heavy wrenches, Mike, Luke and Don, are excellent techs, you will like the service. 708.385.4500

RoyL,
I got it new back in Sept 2003. I spoke with Zak and I'm going to take it into the dealer on Friday. So we'll cross our fingers and see what happens!

I want to give everyone an update. I took my car to Van Drunen Ford yesterday. Zak suggested I go over there. They took great care of me. And nothing was wrong. Apparently there was air in the cooling system and that was the cause of the overheating. Thanks to all of those who helped diagnose the problem. Well a flush and $60 later. I'm back on the street. Another Marauder back and running!!!!!!

Good deal then. Hopefully still under warranty. You're in good company up that way...actually throughout the midwest we call home. Lots of resources.

In about 500 miles take it back to the dealer and let them bleed out any accumulated air.
The air accumulates in the steel cross over pipe in front of the engine.
This will insure that you don't overheat again.
Don't let them open the reservoir, that only empties the reservoir.
Let them open the cockpit on the steel pipe and add coolant there.
